It does sit at 1000 rpms, but when u turn the key it should zero out. My does. I have the same boat. I love it!

Don’t need jumping candle honestly. Inside the engine cap should have a rope to turn the engine to start incase you run out of battery.

I believe they could be. I live within a couple hours of the ocean. I believe you would need to immediately flush out the engine.

Is your trolling motor 12v? And what length shaft?
