Unless Sun Yang truly mastered the chopping style or else it's very hard for him to get a breakthrough because he will be outpaced by higher skilled players who can create a quick first smash. Once his opponents like Huang get used of his chopping style, it's the end.

Unfortunately yes. The defending style is difficult to breakthrough in the first team. I believe the National team requires at least 1 chopper and 1 penholder to always have that variation in style so the strongest attackers have practice partners.

We will see. Sun Yang is only 16 and i hope he can develop his game in the next years.

@@lepoldbuttersstotch Agree. I personally believe a top must be able to have a defensive backhand juggernaut and an accurate forehand. I haven't seen anyone as impressive as Zhang yining in this era.

No hate here. But no defender has ever Won a WTT title or the Olympics. Sun Yang is the next Ruwen FILUS nothing more. The best TT players are all offensive players. And Huang Youzheng is the next LIN Gaoyuan both lefties. And the serves are the same.
