In the Australian Federal election of 2007, the Australian tories tried to frighten the electorate with talk of 'wall-to-wall Labor' - it was hilarious. For a time, the Australian PM aand every Australian state Premier was Labor. The highest elected tory official in Australia was the Lord Mayor of Brisbane.

@@pamelaadam9207 Young people should have access to youth centres regardless of financial status. But what I'm saying is, our head of youth service used to sign forms for us where we would have needed a doctor to do it or someone who had known us for 5 years. We also used the pcs to print off cvs when we started looking for jobs. Working class people don't always have access to those things and can be a way to get help when they are young adults because it's not easy to work out what to do if you have no support network around you.

James saying at 6:03 that a large parliamentary majority could be dangerous 'but only if you have a demonstrably corrupt liar in charge' and then going on to say at 11:20 that Starmer 'breaking promises made in pursuit of the Labour leadership that he is not intending to keep once he secured it, but that's just politics' is the chef's kiss of footballification.

I suppose my issue with a large majority of any government is that for our system to work we need an effective opposition. We need the opposition to hold government to account to make counter arguments to make sure new laws and legislation has past the test of being questioned and that things have been taken into account to ensure it is right and fit for purpose and there is an appropriate appeals process in place etc. It also encourages getting cross party consensus, working with other parties to ensure it is right and fit for purpose.
