@@sunandmoon2019 Thanks for the interesting video! Both tests are difficult because of the deliberately misleading language used to describe the test takers💦
I’m Japanese. I think this listening test is so difficult that I was going to make a mistake. I also almost fell asleep when I answered the question. So, It takes a lot of concentration. If you can answer the questions, I will be proud of you!!
En realidad preparo el N4 pero estoy aquí para hacer terapia de trauma y dejar de tener miedo al examen de mi nivel. Por ahora solo he conseguido asustarme más. Volveré por aquí si me da por sacarme esta vaina, en veinte años o así. Ánimo a los locos que vais a presentaros, tenéis mi apoyo moral.

日本語がとても難しいですが、私に英語が簡単です。 Learning Japanese is extremely hard, but English is a piece of cake for me. I am Vietnamese. When comparing to the languages I am studying right now. I have to admit that Japanese is harder than English like 10 times. The way people in Japan write down and speak is almost the opposite grammar of how I learnt English.

Even I, a Japanese, find this test difficult. Don't worry, everyday conversation in Japan is much easier. If you are able to solve all of these questions, your Japanese ability is higher than the average Japanese. Good luck!
Even though I'm Japanese, it is a little difficult for me not to listen to everything but to choose correct answer. 日本人だから全部聞き取れてはいるけれど、答えを選ぶのは少し難しかった。
Even Japanese people find it difficult. I'm Japanese, but I can't fully input the contents of this conversation into my head, so I felt that the key was to take good notes. I felt that it was important not to be misled by the content of the conversation, saying that you don't have to do anything yet.
@sunandmoon20193 жыл бұрын
I think so ^V^ Note taking is the key to get high marks. People may get a pass without taking any note. But it is really hard to get full marks without note taking.

I'm a native Japanese speaker, but I did find one funny thing in the sentence that was played in this question. It's the part where he says, “~するんですか". It's strange to use it in this context. The correct answer is "~するのですか" For example, if you say "明日卒業するんですね," you can use it. But when you use it in a context like this one, it makes me think you're a little bit stupid (it's perfectly fine to the extent that foreigners make mistakes. I rather admire you for being able to speak so well). That's the only thing that bothered me. この試験に挑戦する全ての日本語学習者の方々に敬意と親愛の念を込めて。
Back when I took the test, there was one question involving a SF radio drama with a space battle, and another where a couple started arguing mid-conversation.

Since the linguistic competence required for N1 is being able to comprehend orally presented materials spoken at natural speed in a broad variety of settings, we can find different settings in the questions ^V^

I was born and raised in Japan, but this exam is very difficult. Even I had a few questions that I wasn't sure about. If you can pass this exam, I think you can say you are a native Japanese speaker.
I just passed N2 and I don't get how the listening can be this easy but the grammar is impossible 😅 even the n2, I barely passed the grammar but listening was totally fine.

I'm curious to know - for the Japanese natives who say that even they find this challenging, what aspect is it that makes this exam tricky? Is there anything in particular us foreigners can look out for so as not to get tripped up?
@ryanboisselle80943 жыл бұрын
According to my wife, it's the similarity in the options you have to choose from when it comes to the reading portion. The listening portion is not too difficult.
@balladewilliams3 жыл бұрын
I'm half Japanese. To me this seems tricky because the correct answer tends to hinge on just one turn of phrase that you have to be able to understand. It's often right in the middle of the conversation and sometimes it's short and it's easy to miss. By the end of the passage, unless you understood that one phrase in the middle, none of the other information helps. My vocab is like low N2 so I don't even understand half the words. But I've grown up listening and speaking the language with relatives all my life, so just hearing that one phrase tends to be enough, especially since there's furigana for the hard vocab here.
I've started learning Japanese some weeks ago. I would like to pass N5 exam next year. The only issue I think I will have is my visual problem which makes me feel insecure if I start studying Kanji bc it has so many little traits on each symbol. Btw, I will try my best anyways.

I'm Japanese, but it is difficult for even a Japanese person to get a perfect score on this test if he/she does not listen carefully. ☺️ It is a difficult test that you might make a careless mistake if you take it lightly just because it is your native language❗️ If you can listen to this with ease, your Japanese listening comprehension must be better than Japanese❗️ 😂 I often take the TOEIC and TOEFL exams, and I always wonder, "What does an English listening test sound like to English speakers?". I think I understand that now. 😂
