i saw an interview and he said that for their first 6-7 years of preforming live they didnt have money for food and they where sleep derprived on the roads so that might be some of the reason they used to preform worse then, now it is so much better

Also this video doesn't show it at all, but the amount of bass at Download is insane. That close to the stage you probably can't hear much because the speakers aren't directional, so all you hear are the subwoofers
