I've learned so, so much from watching these videos the past 5 years or so. I can actually understand weather maps now! When I see a new upload, I look at the satellite imagery, recon planes, and models, and try to predict what Levi will say before I watch it :D
@slartybarfastb36482 жыл бұрын
I do the same. Hurricanes have always mesmerized me. As a surfer, the incredible power of the swell generated is humbling and I wanted to understand the force creating them. So for years, I'd drive hours to get hit any landfalling storms close enough. Then they started coming to me instead! I try to analyse them all day also, then compare notes with Levi's video to see if I've learned anything from him since the last one. I still have much to learn. But that's the fun part. Winter is boring.

Levi: If you have an extra minute some time, could you discuss the different effects of a hurricane on storm surge to the "right" side of the storm's path as compared with areas in its direction of travel? In other words: Does a hurricane push less water out to its side than it does ahead? My guess is that it does, because of the transient effects to the sides of the hurricane as opposed to the more sustained force exerted ahead of the storm. I'm probably way off, but that's my guess. Thank you.

Thanks for the update Levi...as usual keeping my eye out for the potential "leftovers" we tend to get in central NC. We took a direct hit from hurricane Fran back in 1996 which was a bit more than leftovers...those spin up tornadoes really did a number on us with that storm. Ever since then I've paid attention to where the remnants are heading regardless of where the hurricane makes landfall.

I'll say it again: Crystal River nuke plant could be in big trouble from this storm. They already had manatees dying because the seagrass was contaminated from a leaking phospho-gypsum stack just to the south, and those stacks are all over the place in the area. Hope DeSantis has a plan to deal with the environmental fallout this may cause. They are basically mounds of dirt holding a radioactive slurry. Good luck everyone, pray those things hold together. This could be extremely bad for the Tampa Bay area. Honeymoon Island is our favorite beach at Dunedin, when we went there after the leak there were literally thousands of dead fish everywhere. It was just terrible.

@vaderjones3572 жыл бұрын
Makes complete sense...ya follow the weather patterns when the wave comes off the coast of Africa...and you follow the weather patterns when it gets into the straights/gulf. It's not forecast exact landfall until ya see how the U.S. weather patterns will act

Looking like a low end cat 2, high end cat 1. That is nothing for most places, especially gulf and south east coast. Just don't be stupid and sit on the beach and you will be fine. This guy seems pretty legit with giving facts unlike other media who only care about scaring you so you watch their videos or channel. Since this season has been a huge nothing burger when they told us it would be the worst ever they are hyping it up.
@FlawdaFootball2 жыл бұрын
The media will try to make you panic but most Cat 3 and lower hurricanes aren't a huge deal if you don't live in flood zone or vulnerable property. If there is landfall in Tampa or north of there, West Palm too far away to get hurricane force winds, at most you'd get some outlying rain bands that rotate around the center of rotation.
