I always appreciate that Smiv gives props to opponents and gives them the benefit of the doubt as much as he can. There are definitely other teams on YT who’s commentary is quite bias but I always appreciate it when Smiv can give props to other teams 🤝

Great video as always. I must clear something up. There is NO law that says you cannot make any type of call. If the player shouts leave it, then there is no reasn to stop play. However, if the player makes a call with the intention of distracting the oppoent, then play should be stopped and the player cautioned for ungentlemanly conduct.

A quick note- the rule of you can’t say leave it isn’t entirely true. It’s only if it interferes with an opponent. So if it’s two team mates going for the same ball and they’re with plenty of space and one shouts leave it- that’s completely fine.

On “leave it”, it’s only a foul if it impacts the opponent. So if a defender actually leaves a ball or stops chasing it, if it’s not effective at misleading an opponent it isn’t a foul :)

Do think Emerson Park got a bit unlucky with some of the decisions but that's hardly Palmers' fault. Every week all Smiv says is that he wants consistency; eventually you're bound to get a dodgy ref who goes in your favour.

Sunday league has it's own pyramid, the only way for them to get into the pyramid that the prem is in is if they registered the team and are accepted, and the likelihood of that happening is fairly slim.

@@dwcavileer you’ve gotten the situation in the video confused. In the video, Andre complains to the ref, because one of the other teams players shouts leave it as he’s running onto the ball. Players aren’t allowed to shout things like leave it, cos you could deceive the other teams players. Nobody’s complaining that the ref himself said leave it, because he didn’t, nor would he ever.

You can say ‘leave it’! You just can’t say it if you’re doing it to cheat. While we’re on the subject, from last week, a keeper handling outside the box is not a red card… it’s a yellow. Denying a goal scoring an opportunity is the red card offence. Sorry 😀

You can say "leave it", you've always been able to say "leave it". What you can't do is deliberately say something to try and distract the opponent - it's a judgement call for the ref and nothing to do with any specific words.

"Leave it" is the same as "mine", it can be used to trick the opposition as there's no name attached to it so it's a foul and indirect free kick if called. Regardless of if used in correct context or not.
