Loved your video Robin, concerning hygiene when boondocking. A lot of people don't realize that daily showers are a fairly recent change in what is expected in society. I'm 73 yo and when I was a child, we had a Saturday night shower whether we needed it or not. LOL, Of course, there were exceptions if we got very sweaty or muddy. When I do have hookups, I will take showers, but if not I do "sink baths". This would be the same as the cloths you mentioned. I put some water in the sink, wet a washcloth, add a small amount of body wash and wipe it all over your body. Then rinse the cloth off and wipe over body to take off all soap and dirt, repeat if needed. Then dry.

I found that so much of my identity was tied into my hair. I would hear constantly how wonderful my hair was. I kept it for so long because I did not know what would new value be if no one said my hair was awesome all the time. I did go short like yours. I just stopped coloring it. And guess what? I just purchased and started reading your books. They are, by FAR, the BEST formatting I have EVER encountered. I read a lot of ebooks and a lot of them I regret getting as ebooks because of the formatting. I had no idea what was even possible until reading your books. I appreciate them even more knowing that they are regularly updated. I'm working hard to get out on the road. I just bought my ultimate adventure vehicle, so I have to pay that off, then get a hitch installed. I'm thinking of towing a smaller unit. I've got a few that look amazing and they seem to be more compatible with year round camping, which is ideal. So refreshing to see someone like you online. Your story resonates. I love your tag line too. Can't wait to be free!

I agree that I much prefer your educational videos. You are concise, to the point and engaging. Too many other RVers like to hear themselves speak with useless travel info about themselves. We just bought a Host truck camper on a Douglas converted truck bed and plan on beginning our new life end of this year and your videos are tremendously helpful and informative. One other point... I am English and we don't believe in scrubbing ourselves to death every day. My skin is super soft because I shower every 3rd day, spit wash every day, but am diligent about using lotion every day. Thanks again Robin and hope to see you on the road😎

I would like to give you and your peps another way to stay cool when they sleep when the weather is hot. I learned this out of desperation when vacationing in Mexico and our room had no a/c. Get a towel - make it wet - sleep on it or sleep with it on you. Once you get over the quick shock of getting use to the wetness, you actually get very comfortable and cool.

I like seeing other parts of the country, but my personal holy grail is the search for solutions to my needs. Soooo... As far as I am concerned, I say keep on keepin' on just the way you've been doing things. Your videos are always enjoyable and informative. Now as to finding a solution to hairwashing, I think I found mine: "No Rinse Shampoo." I LOVE this stuff. There is a light scent to it, but even I can use it. That's saying something since I am allergic to most scented products. In any case, this stuff works. Wet your hair with it, then towel dry. The more you towel, the cleaner your hair gets. They even have a no rinse body wash I am liking a lot-- I haven't even broken out into rashes or anything. It's very concentrated, so I put a couple of drops on a wet wipe, wash up, then I quickly wipe down with another wipe, sans bodywash. I only do that because directions would have you adding some to a cup of water that you use to soak a washrag in. I don't want to do that. You can buy at the store itself or it looks like you can order online: www.walgreens.com/q/no+rinse+shampoo P.S. I am a painter (acrylics/collage) as well --would love to see some of your work.
@madhabitz5 жыл бұрын
And another thing (heh)... The shampoo has the same list of ingredients, just listed in a different order. Since the bodywash is so concentrated, you could probably just buy that, then mix up into another container, with proper dilution, then use that for washing up and for hairwashing as well.

Robin: Suggestions for View Q Please make some videos of an entire day, when you are cooking in your RV coach, we all would like to see this in progress. Please make an additional video, the entire day you spend in your patio, cooking, working, and enjoying the fire Pit and solar oven. It would be great, if the outdoors could be filmed w/ drown!!! You've never made a video I can remember, nighttime in your coach, sleeping quarters before and after you sleep in it, and a tour of your RV from the outside, in the evening hours with the lights on etc. For me, nighttime lights can really create a mood. Take a shot of your Tv, so we can all see the reception quality. ( R you using a battery sleeping blanket? ) Have you ever thought of remodeling underneath one of your twin beds and constructing a soaking bathtub underneath the mattress, so when you're at an RV park w/ full hookups, you can enjoy a bathtub soaking. Bathtub could also be a wealth for extra storage, when not in usage.. Would you ever consider a huge solar collector, lithium batteries, something which will hold 2,000 powers. Do you have a first aid kit, ----tourniquet---- in case you are bleeding alot, fire extinguishers, etc? C e r r i t o s h o at h o t m a i l d o t c o m

I’ve been using the Aquis hair towel for two years now. It seemed gimmicky but I bought it just to see, and I love it. It really does help cut down on drying time. I gently squeeze the ends of my hair with the towel, then wrap it all up in a turban and leave it for 10-20 minutes, sometimes longer, and it soaks up a lot of water. It also really does seem to be gentler on my hair than a regular towel, and it’s lightweight and dries quickly. I highly recommend it.

Please make sure you are at least cleansing your face good once a day then if you want to use wipes the other time thats fine. Cleansing at bedtime is most important because that is when we shed old skin and new cells are made. Do not forget to moisterizer and you serum especially if your over 40. Regarding what your videos are about: you've built this channel on being one of the best "how to's" of RV life that is extremely helpful to vanlifers, too. And that's why we love you. Some variety would be great, but don't feel the need to leave your roots. Speaking of roots, lol... I've had hair past my waist for over 52 years. I've used a blow dryer for over 40 years of that. Stopped for the last 3 or so. With a blow dryer it took about 6 minutes. I can't imagine anyone taking longer than 10 minutes. Are you fluffing it for body while drying which allows air flow? Your hair only needs to remove the surface moisture, not the interior moisture. Without a blow dryer it might take as much as an hour sometimes. I start by combing out the tangles and fluffing it. Then I use my fingers to "scruff" it up. Like putting all my finger tips on my head and scruff back and forth quickly which causes my wet hair to lift from the surface creating air pockets and dry quicker. Then I do the scrunching to form body.

I'd rather think of them as advantages! I went from hair that was long enough to almost sit on, to short SHORT hair.. What was I thinking of for all those years spending not only lots of $$$ on hair product, but all the time involved to style it! I love my short hair now, I can still have it styled and feminine or edgy and wicked LOL

Hi Robin! This was one of your best “how to” videos ever! Thanks so much for putting all this information out there for others. You’ve probably saved at least one person from total disaster. Roll on and enjoy.

I love your videos, Robyn. I love how educational they are. I skip other people’s travel videos often, but never miss one of yours because I know I’ll learn something I need to know.

Nice video. I appreciate that you mix it up on your YT channel, not all travels, not all How To, not all Talking Head. I like it when you review products that improved your RV experience or solved a problem (especially about your 2 different battery boxes as an auxiliary power source, as I ended up getting the yellow box to run my CPAP which I can get 5 nights if I turn off the humidifier... my last hurdle to dry camping). PS: for the lady who thinks she needs AC, if she is away from humidity she may find using a MaxxAir vent fan to draw the air movement combined with open screened windows enough to stay cool while sleeping. For me air movement is more important than AC. They can always rent a camper to try different things out.

I know that view!!! I lived in Breckenridge for a few years back in early 1990’s. Cannot wait to get back that way!!

I mostly look to you for all the educational, informational and hacks. I would love to see some travels just curious such as the colorado areas you described would be great. I don't think it's necessary though. Love your RV garden too! You are beyond creative! Resourceful, innovative, ingenious are just a few adjectives that come to mind. :)Thanks for all you do, you are awesome.

I always give grace to the semi folks. Harder workers you will never find. Their generator is their life. I try and live like I'm in their world when at stops.

You are so adorable! Loved this entire video and all the valuable info you gave. I can see getting together with all the lady RVer's and just having a blast with all the laughs. So glad you don't say your location until you left the area. Smart tips that not a lot of people give much thought to and naive about. I use Paul Mitchell The Conditioner after shampooing. You put it in and leave it. Happy Travels...

Hi Robin! I simply adore your Sunday Videos. You certainly do your research, and your examples of real RV living [and the intermittent problems] are spot on. It helps to give me the confidence that shows me I can do this. Today I told some one "do what you like - and like what you do" ! I think you have hit the head on the nail!

I always enjoy your videos BUT you keep learning and I keep changing my mind on what RV to buy soon! Live and learn I guess but I am trying to learn as much from other folks mistakes and you are tremendous help, really!

Greeting from Ohio. Love your channel, Robin. Thanks for all you share. I do love when you share your destinations. My wife and I flew into San Diego and drove up the coast (staying in motels) checking out campgrounds for our “be free” life. Pismo Beach was a must stop because we remembered your video there. Can’t imagine how cool it must be when your admirers bump into you! Maybe we will one day.

You're awesome! It would be nice to see some of your favorite places with info link attached, but I REALLY appreciate the info. I am a long time viewer(now patron) of Carolyn. She speaks to the humanness and changes; then I found you and you speak to my how, why, where, when and more answers to questions I never knew I had. I am land locked for now because of small people and pets in my life, but with a mind's eye towards going nomad I am sifting through 'stuff's, paying attention to what I really think I can't live without (or don't want to). I know reality, when we get there, will further that process!

Robin your videos are so full of information that is helpful to all who are new at being a nomad to all those that are veterans in Rving. As for myself I prefer the information then the location reason being we want to explore ourselves. Your book is so well written, full of information newbies and veterans alike could use. Thank you. I love your channel. 🙂

Thank you so much for these videos. Each one brings something new to the table. I'm still in the planning stage but getting closer to buying a van. I hope to get one this year or next and get it built. I've got it all drawn out on grid paper and constantly change my floor plan but keep coming back to my first one. My sister over in germany has built out her small renault for camping and she's looking to go bigger. Between the two of us i cant wait to get out on the road. Thanks again for all you do. Be safe and have fun.
