Most people don’t know where Sunday rest/worship comes from. I say this in respect and for informational purposes, not to offend. God rested on the seventh day, not the first day. The first day known as Sunday is a pagan day dedicated to the worship of the sun god. In 321 a.d. Constantine made it a law that Sunday would be the common day for rest and worship in order to unite Christians and Pagans. Jesus and His disciples kept Saturday. The Catholic Church claims Sunday as her ecclesiastical authority because Protestants keep the Sabbath of the RCC’s invention and not the true Sabbath of the Bible. God wrote it in stone symbolizing it’s unchangeableness and Jesus, in the New Testament said to, “pray that your flight be neither in the winter nor on the Sabbath day.” He never changed it because God’s law is unchangeable. If it could be changed He wouldn’t have had to die to pay the penalty for us transgressing them. Forced Sunday rest is on the horizon and God never forces. Climate Sunday will eventually morph into a universal mandatory day of rest.

I am Southern Baptist from Alabama and we had piano and organ growing up but I was very surprised to know one of the songs that you were singing the first one. I haven't heard it in so long but I sang right along because until I was 20 and met my now ex-husband unfortunately I'm 41 now but I started going to his parents church which had the big giant screens and a huge choir and a full band and I did not ever get used to the production I mean sound stage people up in the loft and three or 400 people at two different services every Sunday. I was used to a small country church where when a visitor walked in they were welcomed and they had people that automatically would just get up and catch them at the door and make them feel welcome and wanted. At their church I was trying to find out where his family sat and I asked the people that were welcoming at the front and giving out the church schedule for that morning and not one person that I asked even knew who his family was and his dad played the drums and the orchestra. His parents did children's choir and nobody could tell me who they were. That was an eye-opening experience and I am trying now that I'm divorced to find that small country church atmosphere. Baptist we are very modest on Sundays growing up but it is church it looked like some of the girls were coming in from the club on Saturday night coming straight to church on Sunday morning. It made me blush. My son is 14 but thank goodness he's not a girl because number one I'm 6 ft 1 so she would be massive and number 2 I don't have to worry about modesty. Boys are just so much easier. I love your videos! I do not think that there's very many things different in a southern Baptist religion than Mormons they're obvious differences but I feel like I could walk into one and feel comfortable. Anyway love the video God bless you and your family and that sweet baby. Can't wait to see he or she when they arrive.

I do something similar on Shabbat for meals. Every other day is cutting and cooking vegetables and cheese or meat, which takes me an hour or more per meal. Shabbat is simple meals I can either cook in the microwave or eat without any cooking. It helps to set shabbat apart from the rest of the week. P.S., I really enjoyed the singing; very nice. I used to sing more; and, I really miss that sometimes! I need to get back to that. Thank you for sharing.

@@melpu310 That's nonsense. We have writings of the Early Church from the early 2nd Century (Look up Tertuillian and Justin Martyr) that clearly describes Sunday worship and makes reference to the fact that the Sabbath worship is on the Sunday, the day of Christ's resurrection.

I'm a Christian Seventh-day Adventist and we keep Saturday holy instead of Sunday like you. It was the original day of rest kept by both Jews and Christians until Constantine changed it (for christians) to Sunday worship in the 4th century. For us we rest and worship and fellowship on the seventh day sabbath and don't work either. It's a blessing. Some other Christian denominations keep Sabbath as well, for example seventh day Baptists.

Molly Serkin. This is what I love about a day dedicated to our Faith. I am a Catholic, and our special day is also about spending time to Worship but it’s also about family and just being together (so many people forget to have special family time…time to reset the heart and head I think). During Covid lockdown in the UK our churches were closed so I REALLY missed that feeling of sharing Faith, but we still got together with family where possible (even for face time calls). It was a difficult time for everyone. Keep the Faith and love your family.

Hi Megan, I’d love to know where I can get a copy of your Bible. I am fascinated by other peoples Faiths and try to read up as much as I can. I was raised a Catholic but lapsed for a while in my teens….but when I met and married my husband and our children came along, my Faith came back and my children learned about our Faith. I LOVE that there are so many different beliefs in the world and I am amazed at some of the similarities many of them, the focus is always on family and togetherness…which I love. I think that no matter what your Faith is, we should strive to learn more. God Bless.

Hello! I am a Christian, African American, Mother of 2 females (I'm actually an older mother-getting close to 50:-). I currently also reside in PA - the NE area. I think you are so special and inspirational and God is truly using you in His own way. You came up in my feed (I watch some other Christian families and you kept popping up here and there). I had heard of the name Megan Fox before but I did not know how the person with the name, the actress, looked. I was a little confused and thought maybe the actress became a Christian or she is different or something - based on the pictures and I think you were cooking something in the first video I saw, lol, so I clicked. However, while I eventually realized you were not the actress, smile, I did realize that I had just met someone even better, a nice, sweet and still super cool Christian Mennonite woman! God is awesome and sometimes comical how He can draw us to others. I have loved the videos I have seen thus far and also your diverse music - I listen to all types of Christian music pop, country, jazz, gospel, etc... so I appreciate your diversity of sound in your background music it is either calm, relaxing, tranquil or just fun - good taste. Thanks for great, clean content. God bless you and love you with the love of Christ.

When your daughter licked the paint brush instead of her sucker, that brief clip made my day 😂😂 thank you for sharing this video, I live close to a lot of Amish communities but have often wondered what a DITL looks like for a Mennonite! I have found myself, as a non-denominational Christian, looking for something more from "my culture," and I think what I'm truly looking for is that intentional lifestyle and true rest. So much of my day to day life is still very much ingrained in the American culture. So it was fun being inspired from your video. 😊

Your Sundays seem relaxing. I love it. My husband and I get up and go to church. Then we have a simple lunch (usually leftovers). My husband does services at a nursing home in the afternoons so I go with him when I can (the last few weeks I haven't been able to come because of covid restrictions). If I can't go with him, I try to have some relaxing time to work on fun projects. He stays for a while and reads and prays with the patients. Once he gets home, we have dinner and go to a summer concert at a local church.

I love that the kids are with you in "big church" for the "main" message and teaching time. Though there is no "Christian Sabbath" in the New Testament, it is a celebration of the first day of the week when Christ rose from the dead. It's a day when we don't have to do traditional "work," but are blessed to be able to spend the day in worship, fellowship, and glorifying God without hindrance of everyday toil.

Last year, I returned to a weekly service. I am retired, my husband is disabled and finds it difficult to manuver church, so I go by myself. ( My husband loves the Lord, always has and in healthier times was very involved, but physical limitations now, so our Sermon is emailed to him). Anyway....lol I made a rule at home that Sundays were no longer a work day. We have returned to a slower Sunday lifestyle and I make Sunday Supper more special than other meals during the week.

We are members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. Our Sundays look very similar to yours. We dress modestly and respectfully whenever we are in our chapels for Sunday services. Our Sunday service is two hours long. The first hour we have prayer and singing and members will share gospel messages with the congregation. We also partake of the sacrament each Sunday. Second hour we break off into individual class time. Children and youth have their specific classes as do men and women. Every other week the men and women’s class is combined. In our faith we try to avoid spending money on the Sabbath, which means we don’t go shopping or out to eat. We feel everyone should have a day of rest. We have simple, easy to prepare meals on Sunday and it’s a great day for napping, visiting with family or friends, reading scriptures and just getting recharged for the week ahead. I absolutely loved hearing your congregation sing. So beautiful! Next time I visit my father in Pennsylvania I just might visit a Mennonite church! (We welcome and love having visitors, too)

Everyone deserves to have their day of rest, even though society wants to be open 24/7 nowadays. Also I agree about having kids be a part of the service. All families are together for our first hour (it's called the sacrament but it's like other church's service hour) and the second hour is Sunday school where we divide off into our classes.

When the children were growing up, I did cook, but tried to prepare as much as possible on Saturday. I didn't want to spend that time on Sunday. Sunday afternoon, my husband and I 'might' watch a game on TV. The children just wanted to play. Sometimes I would take a nap. Our activities varied, but were laid back and a time to unwind. Your tummy has most definitely popped Megan!! All of a sudden aswell..hope your feeling well & not getting to tired but running around after 2 little ones is never restful..take care.

Thank you for the beautiful video. I was raised to keep Sunday as a day of rest also. After Sunday dinner was over and the dishes were done, I got to read to my heart's content. But we also had Sunday evening services. When we were raising our own kiddos, we bought Wendy's frosties for everyone and took the long way home through the countryside. After that we had a quick lunch and then the kids took naps. Later when we moved to another area, we home-churched. My husband taught us. In good weather we would often put on a sermon and listen in the car on our way to Yosemite, which was only 45 miles from us. We had a picnic lunch and the kids would play in the river. I loved the hymns your church sang. Many modern churches never sing hymns anymore, but they are so beautiful and the words are so rich. You have a beautiful family. Thanks for sharing.

I am a church nerd, and I loved that you shared this Sunday glimpse into your fam's life. We are Reformed Baptists, and we have our kids in the service with us too. It is HARD some Sundays, but what a joy it is to have our little disciples learning to worship alongside us. ❤ Oh girl. The acapella singing was SUCH a blessing to my soul to hear. I haven't heard "Heavenly Sunlight" since I was a little girl. Thank you again for sharing. ❤❤❤❤

Sunday business is ok if it puts a smile on your heart. For example, I love to putter in the garden so that is what i do. "chores" per say, are minimal for this day.

Enjoyed this video! My husband is a pastor so he leaves for church at 8:15 with our 3 oldest kids and I leave at 9:15 with the 5 youngest. Our Sunday mornings are exhausting so we have to rest in the afternoon. We usually have nachos for lunch because I can get it on the table in less than 10 minutes. But I would love to arrive home to a big Sunday lunch waiting for us!

🙋🏻‍♀️ PW also! Nachos sounds like an awesome idea!! 🤤 When it wasn’t so hot, i would fix sides during the week and ask my mother in law to bring her famous sides. then on Sunday pull everything out of the fridge and grill some boneless chicken thighs to go with it! I go ahead and pre-make a veggie tray for an appetizer because it will hold everyone over, but won’t spoil the kids’ meal! It’s just too hot 🥵 to grill right now! Lol I’m ready for it to cool down just a bit so I can get back to my grilling!! ❤️

Have you thought of putting a roast in the oven before you head to church? I do that sometimes and it is really nice to have lunch done when we get home. I put the roast w/ onions in the oven on 400F for an hour before we leave, then put the potatoes and carrots in right before we leave and turn the oven down to about 325F until we get home. Works great! You can add a salad or some green beans, etc and dinner is done!

I remember as a kid that Sunday was a day for church and fun. We made cookies and things like that. When I became a teen it definitely changed to being a day to reset for the week. I struggle now to find a day to just stop and rest. I'm working on getting there but it's definitely a challenge for sure.

The Sabbath for Christians is Sunday and is a gift from God to us - yes it's a time of rest from everyday work and chores (other than acts of 'necessity' or 'mercy' e.g. hospitals) but it's also a time to give God the glory and that shouldn't stop when we leave the Church service. We try to avoid going places or doing things that rely on other people working on a Sunday for us e.g. shops or restaurants, as we believe the blessing of not having to work on a Sunday is for everyone, not just Christians. It's a shame the world drives everyone so hard.

It's so nice to see you enjoying God's day. I have a very similar Sunday. It's so special! We visit friends/relatives sometimes too, but we try to only do it once or twice a month because the family day is so special ❤ And mom and dad really need to "breathe " occasionally.

The acoustics in your church is amazing. Everyone sounded beautiful praising our Lord. Church doesn't need to be a whole big production, nothing beats the Truth being preached and leaving feeling closer to God and our family. My church has a children's ministry based on age groups during the sermon. My daughter loves it and her teachers so much. I like to keep my little guy with me in a separate room for nursing mama's. I so miss my inlaws living close, we'd all get together after church for a big lunch, talk about the sermon and just spend the day together. Those will always be special memories.

Our family is Catholic and for the most part our Sundays are very similar to yours. We hustle on Saturdays so we can relax on Sundays. We may do some light work, but it’s for enjoyment not as a chore. Also, my son was always with us at church. Did we miss a lot, yes. Did he gain more, yes. I remember bringing him with me to a funeral when he was 3 years old and I thought nothing of it as he was so used to being at church. People were shocked that I would even consider bringing him and impressed that he was so well behaved.

I’m Apostolic Pentecostal and our Sunday’s are usually filled with church and family time including church family. We have a morning and an evening service and usually we have family lunch (most of the time followed by a nap 😂) in between and then we go out to eat with our church friends/family after evening service.

I grew up with my Mom making big Sunday meals and followed in her footsteps but it's a lot of work for me and I don't get to rewind or relax before my the work/school week starts up again. Thanks for the motivation. I'm going to work harder at Sunday/Sabbath being more of a day of rest after church too.😊💖

We are Missionary Baptist and your service structure is very similar to ours. We sing traditional hymns. We sing acapella occasionally, but we mostly have piano accompaniment. We enjoy family worship, as well, and I agree with you about teaching your children to sit and listen. I loved hearing what my kids caught when they were little. It was a blessing to this momma’s heart.

We belong to a Free Reformed Church. Roots from the Netherlands. Very conservative. We raised 10 children in this church. The kids learned to sit and behave for that hour- 90 minutes. Then there is another service at 4:00. I wasn't raised in this church. I still don't think 2 services are necessary. The day of rest was actually very tiring. We also had a big dinner. So it was a very busy day. Some women started wearing pants and it was quite a concern to the elders. Not my my way of thinking. I am glad they come. We are empty nester now. Many of my children have taken their families to other churches. At least they go. My husband has very slowly become more liberal.

I was going to ask if the kids go to nursery or class during worship but you answered my question in the video! I grew up going to Church of Christ with my grandparents and it’s very similar actually! Very similar culture and values. We would sing Hymns from the Hymnal. Always dressed up and modestly. We had Sunday school before worship. And my grandma always had a delicious Sunday supper - it was always expected and looked forward to! My grandparents are both no longer with us but this brought back some really sweet memories 🥰 I think people find your culture so interesting and admirable because you have strong values that are long lasting in your families. It’s great! I do have a question! Do mennonites practice communion every Sunday? Or only on special occasions? We did this every Sunday by passing trays down the pews and ended with an offering/giving tray to tithe.

Thank you for sharing Megan. My son went with our mennonite neighbors to church this past Sunday. While my husband and I attended our church. Afterwards we got together for Sunday dinner. We go to a non demonational church every Sunday. My husband was raised church of christ and o was raised Baptist. We decided to go to a non demonation after we got married. Speaking of singing I got to sing this past Sunday.

Yes! A day of rest. We are Pentecostal and Sundays have always been a day of rest. All around us has changed, but not Sundays. Our day starts slow, then we go to church, have a nice meal, and spend time together. My hubby and I will still sometimes even lay down for a little bit. Maybe because we are older now, but I look forward to the slower day together. Love the singing! Very beautiful and peaceful! Thank you for sharing. God bless.

Hi! I’m loving your content! I just love learning about different cultures and communities 🤗 When you were explaining your church service, I couldn’t help but notice how similar it sounded to a Lutheran service (the denomination of Christianity I grew up with). The structure, the dress, the expectations, everything. At my childhood church, they also had Sunday school at a different time than the services, and while there was a daycare that parents could drop their younger children off at during the service, most chose to have their children attend the service. It’s funny how everyone thinks everyone else is so different, but in reality, we’re all more similar than most realize 💙

So absolutely cool; we were there this spring to see David at Sight & Sound. I see many little neighborhoods we drove through. We stayed about 3-4 days. I loved the history/scenery. We have to keep our kids sitting still after 4 yrs in the Baptist church. We send them to SS and after they go to nursery but at 4 yrs, they are coming to services. We enjoy the kids & babies in the service, especially during the singing time. :)

We went to the charity church in Ephrata years ago for awhile and I always thought it was so weird that the men and women sat separate! We got use to it but that’s the only church I have ever been to that does that. With my husbands job the only day he gets off of work is Sunday and sometimes that day is so packed full with church, fellowship and getting anything done while he’s actually off for the day. It’s a great reminder to really rest and reset for the next week. 💜
