I really like your fabric boxes! They are so useful for the little pieces for slow stitching. An excellent idea to use safety pins instead of straight pins. Saves losing a pin on the ground and getting stepped on. Not that I know anything about that! Just don’t ask the hubs he seems to attract them! TFS❤

😱🫶 I LOVE these boxes! This is awesome. I am going to put making one of these ahead of a journal! I bought a little kit as well, and started making the cover, because it was a stitch book. Meaning, it had cloth pages to stitch on every page. It was a little overwhelming to start out with, and I didn’t finish it. But I love the idea of doing these little 5 inch blocks at a time. And then putting them together. So happy you are doing this series! You are the best Rita! Hugs 🤗❤️🧵🪡

I still really enjoy quilting. But don’t think I am going to make any full sized quilts any more. I have gotten to the point where I most enjoy embroidering blocks for quilts, appliqué, art and collage quilting, and crazy quilting. I enjoy hand embroidery, not really machine embroidery. I like making pieced quilts if they are smaller throws or lap quilts. But primarily I like to do hanging wall art, table runners, smaller things. I probably do one large quilt a year. Although over the next few months I am doing a couple of large queen sized quilts as gifts, and another queen sized one that I am taking a class in primarily to learn technique. I am just getting into slow stitching, I am more and more into traditional embroidery and cross stitching. I usually have one junk journal project a month, but I make tons of ephemera. I enjoy it. But in total with everything I do, I usually have 8 to 10 projects at a time. And as a junk journal person yourself you know how we can get into multi media. So I am just constantly working on something. My tiny studio apartment is basically an art and sewing studio with a twin bed and a recliner in it. At the other end a tiny galley kitchen. There is a separate restroom. But I spent 47 years at a very high stress critical care career Working 12 hour shifts as a registered nurse doing organ transplants and open heart surgeries. So my primary focus in life any more is relaxing in my own way. In my studio, out on my motorcycle, or in my campervan traveling. And needlework can go with me literally on all those adventures. I cook, do some faith based service work and In depth Bible study. But I use the sewing, stitching, journal/multi media making to keep my mind at peace with the worldly stress that is so intense right now.

Just discovered your channel and I am definitely in! I also have a question - I have lots of fleece, big and small and nobody wants it. Can these pieces be used for anything (other than patched dogblankets (which are not wanted anymore). I used to take that fleece from people because I can't stand things just being thrown away, but now I need to clean out or do something with them. Any ideas?
@ritajensen83117 ай бұрын
I have been thinking about your fleece. I also had several pieces from making blankets for my grandchildren when they were little, but I gave most of it to the young moms at church. Now, I think I could have used them as batting for slow stitching, and it would have been so easy to sew through! I wish I could have been more helpful! Thanks so much for watching…🧵✂️🪡
