Vidor is STILL a sundown town pleaseeee don’t believe that things have changed. I recently had to stop at a gas station when I was headed to visit my family in Louisiana. Trust me I didn’t want to stop but my dog had to use the bathroom. At the gas station there was a truck with a couple of white men and they were hurling racist insults at me and my dog. I immediately got in the car and got the hell out of there. Oh and this was during the day!!!!

There is literally not one shred of video evidence that sundown towns still exist. There are cameras practically everywhere. I will literally bet you thousands of dollars. You and I will go to an alleged sundown town and livestream the whole event for your personal safety. We will interview locals and look for proof for the existence of sundown towns. If we don't find any, you win the money. If I win, I win the money. Let's see if you're willing to put money on your beliefs. Gut instinct and experience tells me you wouldn't dare wager against me.

Some live here actually. Im from Beaumont, but have lived in Vidor 16 years. I dispise this stigma out here. But worse I truly dispise the actions of ignorant hateful people that caused it. And I really HOPE for it to change. I've seen more kids here than ever support equality regardless if their elders do or don't. Thats the generations that will really shift the change. If people live their life eith that kinda hate in their heart, its their own souls they ended up hating all along. Because everything and everyone is connected more than most peopke know, you hate another, you hate yourself. Love will prevail ultimately. And I will always support that, equality, any opportunity presenting itself.

I remember a black family tried to move to Vidor, TX, in the early 2000s. The husband had gotten a job in the Houston area. However, the housing at the time was coming off the Hurricane Katrina situation." "To say they had to deal with racists and racism would be an understatement. The family's suv had its tires slashed and had "N I G ***" plastered on the windshields of the family SUV." "His work truck was stolen, and the family house randomly had it's windows busted out while they were at work and school. His truck was later found on a back road on blocks." The family went from being interviewed on the news about moving to Vidor, TX, to moving completely out of Texas." " I was a sophomore in high school when this happened. I remember it vividly. Especially coming off the James Bird Jasper, TX, dragging death in 1998, I believe."

How many YTs are murdered in the USA every year by blax, and how many blax are murdered by YTs. You'll find that information on FBI Table 43. We totally aren't the problem here. Since yall need to keep feeding that demonic victimhood mentality, yall have to deny the reality of the racial breakdown of crime rate stats. It's really fascinating and terrifying to watch. Complete brainwashing. Demonic possession is the best way to put it. Someone who's not possessed can allow new information to replace the old. A possessed cannot. A possessed mind relies on emotions because feelings are more important than facts.

Everywhere you go you'll find racist but it was a different type of racism down there. Beware of your surroundings even in those small towns around orange county. As a black man, I'd tell any black person that you're a fool if you think racism will ever go away. It's a virus. So you're absolutely right to do what you do and not stop in Vidor. Let someone else experiment with their life and see just how welcoming Vidor is. I'll go where people are evolved and aren't obsessed with a physical characteristic that I didn't ask for nor can change.

@@J-Win82 I was born and raised in East Texas my brother. I am a 3 Generation truck driver myself. You are talking about a black man named James Byrd who was murdered in Jasper Texas by his too white friends that he was drinking with and they all got intoxicated you know what happens when they get alcohol in their system which makes them want to Lynch a ninja. You get my drift. So retired him behind your truck and drugged him until his head completely decapitated away from his body an authorities found all of his body parts thrown all over the highway where are they drugged him to death. Jasper Texas and vidor Texas is nothing but like 70 to 80 mi from where I grew up. But a lot of these trolls on here want to say that this isn't still happening to this day which is a lie. In the early 2000s, my husband and I was passing through Vidor , he’s a dark black skinned man from Nigeria and I’m a not so dark skin black woman from Louisiana, our car broke down on side of road in Vidor and I was a little scared because of what I’ve heard about Vidor , but 2 young white men stopped to see if we needed help, they got something to pull our car to AutoZone, and I was still a little scared thinking that they could take us anywhere at the time, but they took us to Auto Zone and when I tell you that every single white person and that’s literally who we saw , stop as my husband was working on the car , to ask if we were ok , if we needed help , very caring, , when we got back to Houston my father was shocked when I told him we had broken down in Vidor and our experience there

My mother moved there 10 years ago after my father ran off because that was the only place she could afford to move to since the tax rate was so low and housing prices were still reasonable and still be somewhat close to her job. There are black people working at the Taco Bell, Sonic, convenience stores, pharmacy, etc. and YES they are working at night time. Nobody is trying to k .ill black people in Vidor in the present day. The racist crap absolutely DID exist as far back as fifty to 60 years ago. Most of the racist people have died off. The times and attitudes changed a minimum of over 20 years ago. Stop allowing the past and other people's attitudes to define who you are and how you feel about yourself and your community. If your always looking in the rear view mirror, you cannot move into the future. I had an interesting experience in vidor ,Tx… about 20 years ago I was moving from Ft .Bragg( now FT Liberty) to San Antonio ,Tx. I was changing duty stations in the Army. I’ve never been out of the Carolinas on my own as an adult.I was traveling in my pickup truck towing a small U-Haul trailer… just crossed the border of LA and Tx, a few miles in I caught a flat tire in Vidor. As a young black man I didn’t know anything about this town . I literally stopped on the bridge and walked across to an auto shop. They were open and not busy. I asked if there was anyone available to help me change a tire. I had no tools , and my jack wouldn’t work because I had larger rims on my truck. The guy said he could not help me because they were busy. NO ONE IS IN THE SHOP! I didn’t think anything of it, so I asked if I could just pay to use some tools. I was literally walking distance from their shop and you could see my flat tire. He said no they don’t loan tools out🤷🏾. Still not thinking anything of it, I walked a few miles to the auto parts store to buy some tools. I was able to buy a set of sockets but was unable to buy a jack. Ironically they were sold out.At the time I was a young soldier in the Army and knew nothing about an emergency fund or AAA lol. So I made it back to the truck and of course couldn’t change the tire. I didn’t have enough sense to call my insurance company to get help. So I walked back to the auto shop and asked could they call me tow truck. Still wondering why I couldn’t get help there, guy finally calls a tow truck. Tow truck comes , literally takes me to the next exit…… puts my tire on… charges me $200! WTF 😮 Thankfully I had a credit card 🙏🏾So I make it to San Antonio and a year later I was telling this story to my wife’s Godfather. And that’s when I got the history of Vidor. 😮 lucky for me I broke down in the morning, Lord knows what would have happened at night. Never knew of places like this until that day and started doing my own research. I still till this day will not stop nowhere near Vidor. Good luck changing the perception of that city. I have seen stories online recently from truck drivers delivering there… they get loaded/unloaded quickly to let them get out before it gets dark….Like others are saying, Vidor needs money in their city! So now we’re welcome to go/stop there 💰 💰💰😏. I just thank God I made it out safe 🙏🏾

My first duty station was Ft McClellan, AL. A soldier in my squad was from Vidor, TX and she used to joke about how racist her hometown was, that it was a sundown town, something I didn't know still existed in the 90's. I feel naive that this town hasn't changed.

I couldn't take this video seriously as I have family members who are truck drivers and they have always told me to avoid this area in general. When my family was station in Texas ,we were given security briefings on this town and others when we had to travel. I had a CO said this place was frozen in time so I am not surprised by their attempts at rebranding. I am pretty sure they must be suffering from financial insecurity as federal funds and other sources aren't available to them. They made their bed and now should lie in it .

I actually stopped there in 2005 after Hurricane Katrina and I was creep out as we needed gas . My then fiance was questioned about who were and what's our business there. Once they heard he was service member they were nicer. I thought It was the whole Katrina refugee thing but talking about it with family, we were informed about how lucky we were. Later we were stationed in the Texas and that CO told us not to wear uniforms while traveling in that area. I trust the DOD before someone who is just trolling.
