As someone else said, Sundowner is quite possibly the most honest villain in the game. There's no deeper meaning to what he's doing, no silver lining or grey area or tragic backstory. He's completely up and front about how he just lives for war, and the lyrics reflect this. To him War and Chaos is beautiful. Might be a total bastard, but at least he's got conviction and is honest in his opinion

Not entirely true. Where Monsoon is nihlistic, and Mistral hungers for someone strong enough to kill her, Sundowner actually just enjoys killing, not the conflict itself. He hides behind explosive shields, and helicopters, and than when forced to actually fight you, he sucks, tries to fake you out to get rid of you and than turned into mince meat. He has diluted himself into thinking of war as a game, where Raiden sees it as a means to an end like Armstrong does. He is honest about the cruelty, the bloodshed, and the ever evolving war climate of the metal gear universe, but not honest or understanding about the fight once met head on with it. I suppose to this end though he is being honest to what he thinks as true...

Something I’ve noticed in this song is that the line “find the peace within ourselves” is interpreted in many ways (from what I’ve seen the lyrics to be on the internet) based on the way it sounds. Ones I’ve seen are: This one, “Find the beast within ourselves”, and “violence breeds within ourselves”. I find this interesting because they all pretty much mean the same thing and relate to sundowner’s character despite being a bit different.

Breaking his shield is better if you’re playing on revengance. Sword attacks are easier to parry, and you can end up breaking two of his shields within the first 30 seconds of the fight. 99% of the time he’ll start by using a shield charge which is basically an invite to break his shield, then he’s open so you can attack him until he bring his shield back up again and break those too.

Sundowner isn't a bitch at all. He's just utilizing his military power to the fullest (Helicopters and troupes) and is literally the military captain for Armstrong. Also he is clever for actually doing research against Raiden hence his explosive shields acting as a counter to his sword.
