Is that normal to wait so long in the end of fall to harvest sunflowers?
@agwithemma Жыл бұрын
It’s not unheard of! My boss said they like to be done by the beginning of November, it depends greatly on the freeze and snow, etc
@chrisbanta1370 Жыл бұрын
Do they have to be dried or anything or are they good to sell as is?
@agwithemma Жыл бұрын
We harvest under 10% moisture and they go straight in the bag and then to the crush plant this winter as we haul in

So…. You fill up a huge bag with sunflower seeds. How do you get the seeds to wherever they go next? You have a big heavy and at the same time, fragile container. I could have been a 4 th generation farmer in N. Dakota, but my dad bought a store and moorage in Idaho and he harvested tourist money instead of the wheat and sunflowers he used to farm.

Aren't those sunflower stalks slow to decompose, or do you go back over the field and disc them up before winter?
@agwithemma Жыл бұрын
We seed into them! They do stick around for a long time though, don’t cause too many issue except the occasional hose popping off

I love little grudge matches at work to boost morale and productivity but when it comes to lights and safety not to mention tearing up a $$$$ machine because you can't see what is in front of you I can't understand how that's a game... Other than that I watch all your vids P.S I understand things get boring at times 😉🤫
