Sungai Bakap's Pakatan defeat not due to diesel subsidy scheme, claims Rafizi

PKR Deputy President Rafizi Ramli has refuted claims that the implementation of the targeted diesel subsidy scheme was the cause of the unity government's defeat in the Sungai Bakap by-election.
Rafizi clarified to reporters on Wednesday (July 10) that if the subsidy scheme was indeed the cause of the defeat, Perikatan Nasional should have seen an increase in their Malay voter base in the by-election, but that was not the case as the voter base remained the same as the previous election.
Rafizi, who is also the PKR election director, emphasised the need to thoroughly examine the results of the Sungai Bakap by-election before determining the real cause of the defeat, suggesting that a combination of factors might be at play.

Remove of diesel is not a well thought idea. The minister think he can do what he wants since he is the government. Government can do 4 things without withdraw subsidy. 1. Introduce EV by having government using eV, cars... Buses.. Campaign in a big way to public to use eV. This will reduce use of petrol or diesel now and in future 2. Add new pumps in existing or convert 1 pumps in existing petrol station for foreign vehicles in states like johore by charging rm6 as compare to rm8 in Singapore. In perlis, kedah, kelantan, trengganu the same thing can be done to charge foreign vechile with rm4 per liter. This save government subsidy and increase revenue for government. 3. Create special force on anti smuggling on petrol and diesel... On border states.. 4.. Auto scan and record on all vechiles coming to fill their tanks. The moment a vechiles comes to petrol station to fill their tank.. The vechiles detail and amount of petrol is record automatically. All this data will be analysed to detect smuggling as excess petrol purchase can be detected and action taken.. Use AI..

The government has no other choice as there are 33.3 millions vechiles on the road as this number will grow as years goes by. @@Limss-mz1lf Introducing EV as a widespread alternative transportation method is a good enough idea, however, we simply don't have the technology nor the materials to go full ev, like in China for example. China produced their own batteries for EVs, making it a cheap transportation alternative all over the country. What we have plenty of right now is biodiesel, yet the idea was discontinued/neglected even tho they went on with the experimental phase on several utility trucks and the results were pretty much very positive at the time. We have the materials and the technology to produce biodiesel as an alternative and bring the price down if implemented correctly. Yeah, it's not the healthiest of choices, but if we are talking about what we currently have in our hands, this is what we got right now. Price of EVs in Malaysia is around RM 100k and above. So EVs are better suited for the T20. Furthermore, the replacement of batteries requires a huge fund, one that could buy you an axia, paid in cash at minimum, so it is not a good long term investment for middle class income. Japan is going on a different path entirely at the moment with their largest car manufacturer, Toyota going all in with hydrogen engine technology. The reason is simple, EVs are good for the planet, but the process of producing and materials used in EVs, not so much.

Import EV.... Now dirty cheap and battery is very matured.. Some EV need 200 to 300 km per charged... Advance one is 400 to 500 km per charge.. Import EV.. Easily avaliable.. Wait for our own EV.... Then go on waiting n wait n wait
