Best sharpening system I've seen. I'm designing my 1x30 and found another near perfect system for getting great angles and your is more accurate but mine will do lots of tools and don't believe you can much other than knives

How can I see what your machine looks like? Link?
@johnsmith46306 жыл бұрын
Great design. Even w a 3450 rpm motor you get slow belt speed w that little pulley. Excellent elegant tracking system!

There is a craft fair I go to as a vendor, and at that event for the past few years there has been a man who sharpens knives using one of these contraptions.

The Loray is also a slow speed belt sharpener and there's also one made by House of Knives, Ft. Worth, Tx.

The knife machine is golden. Nothing on the market like it. It does excellent job. Only issue I have come across is missing up the jig screw. But that was because of my error. Overall, I am very happy with this machine....Ralph

Made in the USA, except for the belt which is made in japan cuz we needed high quality shit for that part.

What if you need an angle of 15 to 17 degrees for Japanese knives?

this is the finished product?.. looks like a prototype to me
@garethbaus54717 жыл бұрын
I have seen a person use one of these sharpeners(at the time i had assumed it was homemade) so although it looks like it should only be a prototype it most definitely is the finished product.

How do you get different angles other than the two shown? like lets say a 17 degree angle?
@regmoree123310 жыл бұрын
Don't you get a slight concave edge profile working on a slack belt. If there was a platen to grind against wouldn't that produce a flatter bevel or at least a provide choice of bevel profiles.
@RobWhittlestone9 жыл бұрын
+Reg Moree Actually, isn't the belt slightly concave where the blade presses on it and the edge profile the opposite: slightly convex?
@CJ-hw4zc5 жыл бұрын
@@RobWhittlestone yes
@MrKeenSharpeningService Жыл бұрын
there is obviously a platen there.
@mariepi7 жыл бұрын
a good thing maybe that the emery band receives a small stream of water continuously to prevent losing of the temper of the cutting edge of knife

the whole reason for slow speed. no coolent needed
@Brentssharpening7 жыл бұрын
Starting at the near slot then moving to the far slot - certainly has it backwards as the second pass will be a smaller angle, not a larger angle. And yet he says he formed a burr in the second slot at a lower angle - interesting ... and should be impossible.
@Brentssharpening7 жыл бұрын
My mistake, was not able to see the set up well enough. The back slot, which is a little shallower, will slightly increase the angle.
@cameronkhor75116 жыл бұрын
The first slot is deeper. the second slot is shallower.

looks very flimsy and cheap as expected from modern american made product that is only effective with the use of japanese made belts

Stop and think, dipstick, before you run your mouth about something your are obviously uninformed about. The reason for the Japanese belts, or Chinese for that matter is price, not quality.

What a joke. That's not how you sharpen a chef's knife. you cant chop onions with that bend. It needs to be straight.
