A Paradox: you're totally right. The Sound of Kathleen Battle is also my impression! Great art!

A beautiful rendition of this difficult piece It sounds incredibly easy to sing, but it certainly isnt.Sunhae Im manages to make it sound simple, but without making it sound like an operatic aria, and with great diction. She kept reminding me at times of a young Kathleen Battle, and I don't think there can be a bigger or better compliment than that?

I watched and listened to Kathleen Battle; and cannot say I was impressed.

There is an opinion to compare with Kathleen Battle, but I think it’s a matter of taste after all because the voice quality is different even with the same soprano. I love both singing voice.

There is something really offensive in the mind of Gershwin. Miss Im has a most attractive voice and imposes herself considerably on the music which effects a considerable improvement. I am familiar with her recording of Die Schopfung by Haydn on Naxos. In this she is sophisticated and delicate and her voice is indescribably beautiful. Let us not be foolishly 'modern' and coy, one cannot compare Gershwin with Haydn. Die Schopfung is a work of towering standard and needs no improvement or apology, but just for the beauty of her voice, I would, in that, prefer her to have been more forward and assertive.
