The jazzy interpretation, the sweet runs he does in the beginning, the beautiful reharmonization of the chords, and then to top it off I was not expecting a voice that rich. Absolutely incredible version.
@kujo59982 күн бұрын
So funny, i was about to say the opposite. Would be SO COOL if he just played the main licks of the song, especially the intro, the way it was written… And do his noodling in the middle or at the end. The way it was written is SO MUCH more beautiful than what he played there… There’s nothing anyone can do to make that song sound better. Anything you add or subtract diminishes it. There’s only a few songs like that. And this is one… Too bad

A guitarist is NOTHING without the best bass and drum players-- and specifically those two accompanists. Why do you think John Mayer, Joe Pass, Stevie Ray Vaughan, Jimmy Page, Clapton were so adamant about who they play with in their core. If the rhythm section can't follow the performance is garbage.

I normally don't like anyone doing any of Jimi's versions, but this guy takes it and runs with it. Jimi was wanting to go in the direction of a more jazz approach before he died. I think he'd like this. There's several Hendrix tribute artists out there, but this guy is his own persona. Good going!

@Connie-B3 жыл бұрын
@@DBlairMusic Oh, I totally agree with you!! He is influenced by Jimi and if Jimi were around today he would be absolutely thrilled with him and what direction he has gone with his music. It was so hard for Jimi to do his own thing as people and management had him blocked into his old stage antics and note by note stuff. He wanted so badly to go this direction where he could be free with his music and style. Peer would be completely correct. No way would I ever imply Gales was any type of impersonator. :-)
