Brett Marvin and the Thunderbolts Copenhagen 1970

Live gig in Denmark Remenber it well...the reason Lewie and gibbo are starkers is that they came down from Stockholme in the limo ...the rest of us, still in clobber were late coming in the Transit van and went straight on to the stage..the whole venue was boiling hot and whiffed of Bob. We followed Mark Bolan onto the stage... our Jim, still in his overcoat...😎

OMG. I've been a fan of Brett Marvn & The Thunderbolts music since 1970; I had their first 2 LPs and I almost got to see them live around this time but the moody girl I was with then decided she didn't want to go in so we had to go; I think she broke up with me soon afterwards. I think BM&TT are the best Jug and Blues Band the UK has ever produced yet, just like me as a modern poet, they've been totally undervalued and overlooked. Just like Status Quo they should b up there for mostly playing music that maakes people happy and want to dance. I was never an anorak in my younger days so I never bothered to look on the album sleeves to see who the band members were; shame on me. I'm 76 now but I'm still a big fn of BM&TTs music from this period. Most of it is now available to listen to on KZbin thank goodness but the comments space is always turned off, If there is a pantheon of the rock gods in 'paradis3e' I'm sure BM&TTs will be in it and maybe I'll just scrape in myself....?

Wonderful stuff. Saw them at Bath Uni about his time, and it was still one of the best gigs I ever attended in my life. So glad you posted this.

At that point I was a recent ex-girlfriend of John Lewis (aka Jona Lewie, keyboard) Amicable break-up and we're still friends 😊. All the numbers in this set are my favourites. They had some prestigious gigs in their time .... i.e. went on tour with Derek and The Domino's, and of course had a hit record, got to no. 2, I think it would have been no. 1 if School's Out hadn't been released at that point !!! Had an amazing time following them around for those two years and I'm still friendly with the remaining Bretts.

Takes me back, used to see BM on Sunday afternoons at studio 51 Gt Newport St, they were the resident band for a while. Are the Zob pounding away with a cup of tea and a piece of cake served by two little old ladies.
