35:50 When Afzal Guru stated, "I don't wish to separate Kashmir from India, but the government has made me a terrorist to combat corruption," the jailor moved to tears. 😢

A very well done interview. It's amazing that a man who's spent so many years in the dark world of a terrifying prison in close contact with often dark and dangerous people is not hardened and neither has he been rendered indifferent . What an honest and fine soul he is. I hope his voice is heard and prison reforms are put to practice. I must buy the book .

Please schedule for a part 2 of this interview! Imprisonment as a reformative measure needs to be understood by us as a society. Looking forward to part 2!

It’s my personal experience of Visiting Tihar Woman cell back in days as part of Internship program.. interacting with Inmates be it Indian national or Foreign nationals it’s completely different.. I am not sure if all prisons’ across India is like Tihar. For sure one is in Tihar becoz of the crime one has committed but one cannot take the human aspect from them. I don’t discount the brutality that intimates have committed that landed them to Tihar!! That one day trip to Tihar has a very lasting impression in my mind!! Indeed very insightful discussion. The way Mr Gupta was talking about the corrupt system we live in.. our DNA is full of rot.. sorry to offend fellow citizens! The recent case of death of Mr Pankaj Dutta ex DIG of Calcutta Police. He raised his voice against the false narrative of RG Kar case.. no media houses nationally spoke about it.. There are good people for sure.. but cloud of corruption so huge too deep to see the good thing !

Many years ago, a Bengali writer named Jarasandha penned a few unforgettable stories about jail inmates. The name of the book was 'Louha Kopat' (The Iron Gate). He served as a jailer, and some of his stories have been adapted into films. This interview reminds me of Jarasandha.

He seems to be very emotional to assassins and terrorists and from only a perspective of poor vs rich. But psychopaths/sociopaths have many many manipulative layers of deception based on the environment they are in. He falling for Kasabs "corruption" comment getting emotional about it is probably one facet of it.
@Feyenoord1017 күн бұрын
He didn’t talk about Kasab. He said about Afzal guru. And there are a lot of abnormalities in that case’s evidence.

Aur justice system and criminal laws are stupid and broken and they are used to commit brutality against others with no redards to human rights and still no one trusts the courts 😢 but hte incident you are mentioned is over 20 years old, bilkis banos rapists are also free, prajwal revanna is also in Germany after the mms and sex scandal which ivoled 100 women,
