I’d like to add my own section here: *11. Casual* Casual modes in Rocket League are like Ranked, but harder. It doesn’t matter which mode you play because you’ll always run into clan teams who are way above your skill level (we’re talking Champ vs. Gold here) and constantly playing like their lives depend on it. Best case scenario, your teammates are one rank below the opponents. Otherwise, they’ll either be at a similar skill level to you or worse. They’ll chase the ball, they’ll miss open nets, they’ll miss easy saves, they’ll own goal, they’ll play for the other team, they’ll go AFK, they’ll vote to concede at 0-0, and they’ll refuse to concede when you’re several points down with absolutely no chance of winning. You can’t simply leave a match, anymore, so unless you’re prepared to wait out a matchmaking ban, you’re stuck in these conditions for the next 5 minutes. If you happen to get a good, close match, it won’t last long, because the other team will concede the second you gain a point over them. The psychological warfare is on another level. Spamming *What A Save!* after every goal, whiff, etc. is not enough here. Equip the Conversion Gel boost and show your immaturity by blasting it at the camera when you beat the other team, throw on an annoying player anthem like any Cochise song to assault their eardrums, and never skip the replays, because you’ll always want the other team to watch their embarrassing mistake over again, even if it’s a boring goal not worth rewatching or clipping. The current state of Casual, the state of the game as a whole, and the recent announcements like the removal of trading only affirm that Rocket League is not a game you play to enjoy. If you’re not willing to sweat your ass off, eyes glued to the screen, raging every game, you’re better off not playing.

you had me until "players refusing to forfeit". if you wanna ff that's on you, but expecting your teammates to forfeit is ridiculous. first of all, players have to actually, you know, play the game to improve. so what exactly is the benefit to forfeiting, especially in a casual game? why would anyone be so caught up in wins/losses in unranked that they would get upset about that? isn't the whole point to get better? even in ranked it's dumb to have that mindset unless you're like top 10 in the game. in unranked it's just mind-blowingly stupid. stuck in "these conditions" as if it's some hellhole to be in a match where you aren't going to win. use that time to improve your game, which is likely why you aren't playing ranked in the first place. the rest of what you said is true though, rocket league is no longer a game that can be played for some relaxed entertainment, even at lower ranks. it sucks but that is what you get when your entire game is catered to middle school kids. though i have no idea how you can both complain about this issue, and then say it's a "problem" that your teammate isn't forfeiting unwinnable games. you're contributing to the exact mindset that you are claiming to lament.

Needless to say I was absolutely destroyed. Couldnt even touch the ball most of the time because he was just always there basically 1v2 my friend and me...

Ive never laughed so hard at rocket league content. You are hilarious man! I love your take on the games current state, and i couldnt agree more. 90% of your time in rocket league is just pure frustration with occasional happieness!

The one thing that stopped me playing for good, were the terrible servers giving me a constant 700 ping every match. Just could not deal with it, and gave up. Wasn't only me who was affected too.

Man, the ranked pain is real in this game. I float between plat and diamond and holy hell I’ll run in to anything, from a duo of mouth breathing window lickers to a sweat lord duo dropping air dribble, flip reset, mustys. I’m rather positive that I’m at the rank I deserve, platinum for life, there is just no consistency in the level of opponents you face while ranking up.

I get this exact pain yesterday, I was chilling playing 2s and we are down 1 goal 1-2 with 3 minutes left. The guy decided to throw, clicks on ff. Of course I didn’t ff, but the guy decided to throw and give the opponent 2 goals. But I try my hardest and scores 2 more, and later my teammate was like: fine I’ll start trying again now that there is hope. And he scores once. But then gets rekt on by the worst fake I’ve ever seen in rocket league history, AKA BALLDOSE So yeah, we ended the match with 4-5, IT COULD HAVE BEEN 4-3, AND THE GUY KNOWS IT.

I've been champ for several seasons. C2 in 2s the last 2 now. Stuck D2/3 even dipping to diamond 1(yeah I moved and have shit internet now but still) and Diamond is insane. This video nailed it with the team8s part, I think the ones going for everything and bumping you off ball though are smurfs that just want to clip and are intentionally trying to lose anyways. Just tonight I had 1 guy hit me 3 times on 1 play and at one point drove around with me sideways on the front of his car for like 3 full seconds...

I’m a strategist, I adapt my playstyle and on-field role to my teammates, I keep a mental image of the midfield line and, if both my teammates are on their side, I’ll stick to my side to be defensive. Now here’s the issue, I’m almost always the strongest offensive player on my team, OCE has such a small active playerbase that finding people at your skill level is a rare occurrence, 9 out of 10 players are ball chasing scabs who think they’re god so I’m almost always forced into defense mode by 2 teammates who constantly push and leave our goal open. It’s at a point where even if we all have the same amount of goals, assists, saves etc. I’ll still be under my team by 200 points because I know that the second I leave our goal to push a goal I could easily make, either they score our undefended goal, or the team will sabotage my shot because they’ve become accustomed to my generosity in letting them hog the ball. What would you do in this situation? Continue being a good team player as you devolve into boredom, or say f*ck it and start ball chasing like the rest of them?
