Why did 66779 pass the signal at danger?

It was given authority from the signal man to do so. This is called SPAD

It has a signalled route to the Reception sidings. At 15:44, the signal CO 313 is displaying the subsidiary aspect [the "cats eyes"] with stencil route indication "R". The "R" is showing on the left hand black square between the red aspect and the subsidiary aspect. The right hand stencil indicator displays "Y" for the route to the Yard. The main signal will clear for the routes to Down Main, Up Main, Lowestoft Reversible, and the Goods Loop only.
