Hello there, thanks for these videos - this is my hometown but now I live far away on the other side of the world. Not much hope of me walking these streets again myself for a long time, so it is lovely to see. I wonder if you have noticed - at this point in the video 22:08 if you look above you on the wall of Caffe Nero here before you turn right off Friargate (opposite The Black Horse, - an excellent pub btw!) there is a pretty mind blowingly impressive blue plaque - and it's totally true - he owned a property on that spot, bought for his daughter who lived there after marrying a Lancashire lad. He visited and stayed there for several months when she had given birth to his grandchild. Then went back home to become rather famous 🙂 Check it out next time you pass. Cheers & keep on walking!

Hi, thank you for the comment - who was it who owned the house there?

Walked past it today - Benjamin Franklin! I had no idea.

@@anorthernwalker Nice one. Yep - one of the "Founding Fathers" of The United States of America and signed the Declaration of Independence from Britain. On the $100 dollar bill. He'd be able to buy a few pints in The Black Horse and lots of Greggs pasties with that! Ha ha. Anyway, it's been nice chatting - Good Luck with your channel - I'm obviously subscribed and will be going through your back catalogue of videos, watching them and giving lots of "likes". If I think of anything interesting again as I follow your travels I'll leave a comment. Cheers.

The city is dead early in the mornings. The parks though are full of people on a nice day like this. Preston has some very lovely parks.

Why on earth did he walk do far when you can either cut through the street or catch any bus going that way

Preston born and bred, but moved away a long time ago. Sorry, but the old town looks so run down and depressing.

No Sundays are so busy when it should be quiet. Sunday is dedicated to God. “SIX DAYS THOU SHALT LABOUR”.
