Hi Danielle, your spring garden is so pretty, I love the blue pansy's, glory of the snow and blue hyacinth you planted in with your beautiful assortment of daffodils. The creeping phlox, Acidanthera, and white wood aster are a great addition to your garden. That was very nice of Yulia to share her white wood aster plants with you. I am so glad you ordered the Cassata daffodils at the last minute! I love them and will try to get some for my garden as well!! I am looking forward to your next garden tour. Thanks for sharing! 😍

Hi Danielle! 1- asters are GREAT for pollinators at the end of summer/early fall. That is the time when other flowers are dying back and the insects are still searching for food. 2 - that’s great you did not add fertilizers when planting. The soil in many parts of the country do not need anything added as our soils are rich enough. Fertilizers can be a waste of money. GREAT VIDEO! THANKS!!!🌸

Yes, it feels wonderful to be back in the garden 😊 I like winter, but it starts to feel like an itch you can't reach or like something's bothering you, but you don't know what it is. In this case, though, we do know! Looking good 💚

Haven’t read all the comments but just wanted to point out that the prostrate form of phlox that you have planted is more often called “moss phlox” aka Phlox subulata while the common term “creeping phlox” is more often reserved for Phlox drummondii.

My daughter-in-law and I love acidanthera; when people scowl at the name, we say it’s a Peacock Orchid. I’ve had some come back after snowy winters, but we generally dig them up. Northern Michigan, zone 5/6.

I may have to place my bulb order now before they run out. 😊 I've grown to love daffodils over tulips because of their longevity and how they naturalize. Ugh! I'm with you on that Mulberry thug. It needs to be on the invasive plants list.

I live in 6b Lehigh Valley and I'm glad you mentioned the Acidanthera may not overwinter. I planted them last year and thought they were hardy but I'll be looking out for the signs of life in my garden the next couple of weeks or I have to put in a new order immediately! They're so lovely.

That was so sweet of Yulia! Acidanthera is pronounced with the emphasis on the “Dan” syllable. Rainy side gardens (rainyside) and fine gardening, too but theirs isn’t as comprehensive, has a reliable online pronunciation guide if you ever want to look something up.

Bulbs are so wonderful, especially in Spring. Daffodils are so cheery after winter! I think of Grace's garden as shady, and yet the daffodils do well there? Is it because they get enough sun before the trees leaf out? Asking because I would like to add more in our yard 😊

Hi, Danielle: What tips do you have on Phlox? I have a patch that I just leave alone all year and it looks kind of bad, unless of course, it is in bloom during the Spring. Is it supposed to be cut back after blooming? It's taking up a lot of real estate in my garden but isn't contributing a lot except for Spring. I can't bring myself to pull it, as it is well over 12 years old and loves where it is. Thank you! (PS--love the blue watering can. Can you share where you purchased it?)

Does daffodil have to be in a sunny spot? I m in zone 10. My daffodils didn’t bloom this year. They’re in the sort of shady spots. Shall I move them? I really enjoy your videos as always. Thank you very much!
@blueberrypieology3088
@blueberrypieology3088 Жыл бұрын
In my country daffodils don’t care if you plant them sun or shade so that shouldn’t matter. Maybe your zone has winters that stay too warm for daffodils? Or a bit too dry perhaps when they die back, as that is when they collect their strength for next year’s blooming? I think my zone is a 5 or a 6 if I compare what is annual to American garden KZbinrs.
