This video shows the true final boss of Kirby's Return to Dreamland Deluxe on the Nintendo Switch. This is the 21st and final boss in the true arena, and is a far harder version of Magolor Soul.

His eyes disappeared, the Master Crown truly took full control of him, and yet you can hear him desperately crying for help. This battle makes me feel more sorry for Magolor than ever before. And actually tries to increase the difficulty than just making Magolor Soul spam attacks like no tomorrow. 1:00 is a good example. Magolor Soul tries to narrow the field to give more initiative and urgency to avoid and do something. In Unfair Magolor, expect spikes to pop in between like crazy, forcing Kirby to fly as Magolor shoots orbs at him.

I find it very disturbing that Magolor's eye fade out in the second phase. It shows that he's no longer in control and the Master Crown overpowers his will. I Think that Apple he spits out is his last breath before the Master Crown fully takes control of him.

It really is. In Magalor's Epilogue, it's shown that the Master Crown is actually sentient and takes over those who wear it. It makes a lot more sense now why Landia was guarding it as they let themselves fall under the influence by wearing and guarding to avoid others from being consumed by it's influence.

It could be seen as this phrase, "the apple of my eye" Which, taken from the wiki, refers in English to something or someone that one cherishes I think by this point, by Magolor's last breath as the crown overtakes his will, he truly does cherishes his friendship with Kirby and the small time they had together. Throughout the fight, you can hear strange noises. Presumably Magolor calling out to you. His vocals were drowning in the soundtrack throughout the fight, as though his will was drowned by the crown itself.

Attention to detail here, the magolor soul second phase here starts with his two upper eyes disappearing, leaving just the one big eye resembling zero. In kirby 64, zero 2's fight starts off exactly the same, showing the two fake eyes in then fading away just leaving the one big eye in the center!

I feel like something barely anyone talks about is how different this fight is compared to Deluxe's EX mode (not referring to the difficulty of the fight itself) Such as: ~Magalor doesn't lose his eyes and give you an apple in EX. He only does this in the True Arena. ~Instead of reverting to normal magalor and the crown shattering like in EX, Magalor Soul simply gets sucked into this mysterious portal behind him, as if he wasn't defeated, but rather sealed away. Or perhaps kidnapped? Taken to safety by the master crown? Other details idk if are revealed in normal EX mode: ~The portal to popstar gets really, really huge. Dunno if its also when you fight magalor soul in EX, but I noticed this here. ~The odd circle in the center of the background is oddly similar to Void....

I went into this fight blind, I knew something was off when I first entered. The attacks of the first phase were different and harder, but when I drained the first health bar, I was disturbed. Magolor Soul was already tragic and sad, but they made it even more sad! The Crown takes away what little remains of Magolor, the music gets sad, and you can hear the poor thing calling for help! I was almost crying when I heard it! I already felt bad for Magolor, but now this has me feeling even worse. My brain is still trying to wrap around what I just experienced and those calls for help are gonna be repeating in my nightmares.

The orb in the background is clearly Void, and i've seen a very interesting theory that says this very same fight is the orgin of Void Termina, being Void exposed to the negative energy of Master Crown. This would also explain why Void Termina has the Master Crown appear in some attacks

Because the True Arena is not Canon, my theory is that Void was about to reincarnate in another way using the energy of the Master Crown before it gets destroyed to break the seal. Or This is a Void from Another Dimension. It is said that Void exists in EVERY dimension and because the battle takes place in Another Dimension it might've used the Island Core as an altar. One thing doesn't bode well with me, that being the infamous eye in Magolor Soul. Void is, as we know, the birth place of Kirby and Zero and Zero being there while Void is reincarnating is pretty weird to me. One theory suggests that the negative energy and Magolor's Soul crossed with Void and created the Boss MAGOLOR SOUL. Now take Magolor's Soul (the husk) out of the equation and what do you get? The pure eye known as 03!

When people say floating hand boss (or just hand boss) they usually mean a boss who uses hands to attack, and usually the weak point is located on the hands (like wham bam). Magolor mostly uses magic and portals, so I don't think he counts. Floating hands are just a staple of kirby character design.

Man Magolor Soul got quite large buffs compared to his Wii counterpart, its terrifying Magolor Phase 2 where his original eyes dissapear show that the Master Crown is pissed and thats very scary when the one large red eye is looking angrily

Apparently, the Master Crown always consumed it's user and through centuries the user was rather more evil than Magolor ever could've been. So the Crown was at the start a parasite that leeches off of powers and after a looooong time, gained more magical powers and abilities from the users it consumed, but also the darkness in their hearts. Maybe the Master Crown inhibits many of those purple hearts we see in Star Allies who corrupted people like Dedede and Meta Knight. Maybe these purple hearts are born from the darkness of powerful people's hearts? The purple hearts also gave the user more power and with many hearts you have a being similar to Void Termina! Maybe that's exactly why that Void lookalike is present in the background of the battle, because it appears wherever there is a great source of evil energy. I say Void lookalike, because Void exists in every dimension and the fight takes place in Another Dimension. So this Void is a completely different iteration of Void that was probably being summoned by the Master Crowns Evil Energy Output... By the way, Magolor Soul's Design is literally just a husk to contain Zero. Even the pause screen description says that Magolor is just a husk of it's former self!

Probably my most favorite thing about this boss is that it's so much more aggressive and randomized than the original Magolor Soul. Since the RtDL community has been relatively active enough for mods to exist, I like to think this new version was made to completely destroy their muscle memory, because they know the old fight that well. I think True Magolor Soul is the better one to EX mode and True Arena Magolor Soul. As this version of Magolor Soul is harder like Soul of Sectonia and Star Dream Soul OS, along with Void Soul and Void, and Chaos Elfilis! And the apple True Magolor Soul lets out kinda calls back to the of Magolor Epilogue, and this is scary! Seeing how the Master Crown forces Magolor's eyes shut, showing the crown has finally overpowered him and in full control of that form and attacking faster and relentless, as if it was Magolor who was holding the crown back from hurting Kirby and his friends.

The first time I played this I had to get my brother to help, and honestly, watching this particular battle without all of the panic both him and I were going through playing this ourselves makes me truly pity Magolor. A lot of people have said this but man his screams for help are the most tear jerking part of this battle when you really see it in depth.. Thank you HAL for remastering this classic Wii game. It makes me happy to know the Kirby fanbase is still thriving to this day off of what's being produced, never fails to impress me. (LOL I said Magolors cries for help are tear jerking cuz I'm really empathetic, even to fictional characters I'm fixated on)

This is so much more disturbing than anyone else thinks. After you defeat Magolor Soul, Magolor Screams "FREE ME KIRBY" and then disappears through the portal, still controlled by the Master Crown and far from anyone who could possibly save him. So in this True Arena's canon, which is different from story canon, Magolor Soul still exists. Who knows? Maybe it'll make another appearance one day.

IMPRESSIVE JOB, I just beat this NIGHTMARE myself today! Literally went in with full health and Mecha and then before I could even process what had just happened I was at critical health and lost my ability in less than a minute...which prompted me to use a souvenir Maxim Tomato just to survive because I was NOT going to go through all that madness again after coming THAT far! Nice to see that he CAN be beaten fair and square without using dodges or souvenir items (something I'll aspire to do in the future for sure), you also got lucky that you never got to see his advanced portal beam attack...it's SOOO hard to avoid!!!

I honestly find this fight to be fun, imo. At first, yes, it's atrocious, but if you pay attention to his patterns, it's not so bad. Heck, I this whole fight WITHOUT an ability and I still find this fight to be not that hard. In my personal opinion, it's way more fun to fight this boss without an ability.

@@ThreeHeadedGhast To do that you need excellent aim (since he warps around INCREDIBLY fast) and a LOT of patience (since it will be a LOOONG battle if you do), but yes in theory it IS entirely doable! I wouldn't try it on Chaos Elfilis (Core of Souls) though if I were you, that true final battle of "Kirby and the Forgotten Land" is ABSURD!

I think the answer to this is that the master crown only really does that to people who are of evil intent like magalor. You are just fighting the crown at this point as magalor is gone

Nothing is confirmed, but I definitely feel like the Crown is a part of Dark Matter. Like one of the oldest specimens that was so powerful it was locked away, akin to Dark Nebula It could even be the Parallel version of Dark Matter brought to the normal dimension lol

Considering the speculation about the 4 matters and Void, I'd say that a characteristic of darkness in Kirby are eyes. It lines up with how many eyes there are. Dark Matter to me is just a species formed by 0, or well, the complete dark reincarnation of Void. Personally I think The Master Crown uses darkness as a power source. Makes sense considering it has an eye.

the crown was built by the ancients and somehow gained sentience. I'm assuming it was so powerful to where after void termina was summoned during the ancient times some of the void corrupted it which is why void termina uses a replica of it during star allies despite him being locked away all these years. void is somehow linked to dark matter though because his final form in star allies is dark matter.

I question your choice of hammer for the boss. Sand deals massive damage and gives you and infinite no damage block. But hammer is one of the best abilities so… this isn’t hate btw

Good lord, the eyeroll he does during the wind-up for his attacks is unsettling. Pretty sure he did it in the original too but it seems they tweaked the animation because it's way more unnerving here.

For an easier understanding, this version of Magolor Soul is the "bad end". The Magolor Soul that has the Crown shatter is the "good end".

The eyes were the closest thing Magolor Soul had to regular Magolor, the entire point of the story and ex mode is that you are trying to free his soul, which is why it ends with him being freed. In fiction it's common for the eyes to represent ones life, and when the eyes fade away (for say finally closing their eyes, or like if a robot dies and their eyes go away) that means there life fading. Magolor boss fights are about trying to free his soul, but after you beat him in true arena, he doesn't go free, he just gets sucked into a portal as his soul form. What was once possible a smile or eye is now undoubtedly an eye, and the last bit of connection to regular Magolor (his eye) is gone (since everything else on him is either non existent or transformed so much that you cannot tell it's him) top this off with the fact that his eyes (which I stated represents his life) only disappears after you drop the hp to zero, I'm sure we can all assume what actually happened in that final moments...(Ex is canon, not true arena)

Everyone talking about how creepy and dark this fight is. All I'm wondering is why the heck someone decided it was a good idea to give Magolor a double-sided black hole. That crap caused me to lose my ability and my run. 30 minutes worth of a true arena run wasted because of this move.

I just fought True Arena Magolor Soul for the first time today, and I somehow beat him on the first try, with only a bit of health left. I recently got the game a few days ago, and long before getting it, I saw everyone saying how True Arena Magolor was different and much harder than Extra Mode Magolor. While I didn’t mind seeing thumbnails with the transition to phase 2 and the unique defeat animation, everything else I wanted to see for myself, and dear god was I scared by everything he was using. Two lasers, two portals, multiple lasers in different directions, new abilities based on mech and sand, etc.
