The engine is a 5.0L not a “4.6 like a Ford”. The G in 7G Tronic stands for “gang”, which means gear in German. There are 7 forward gear ratios and 2 reverse gear ratios. Tronic does not stand for “Continuously Variable Transmission” that would be CVT. The 722.9 has several variants. A TCT (torque converter technology) and a MCT (multi clutch technology), neither of which is continuously variable. Tronic refers to the ability to manually select gears. It also has 16 spark plugs. Not 8. There are 2 spark plugs and 2 ignition coils per cylinder.
