Jaby did a good job too pointing out men's confusion about does this woman in front of me has said an /outright no\ or if me talking to them will they change their mind and turn around and say a /outright yes\. The problem is not with good men, they will listen if women are saying their mind, in a confident way - an in your face no [zero possibility of turning around, has to be confident, coz men are focused with their thoughts of performing sexually at a very high level]. The problem is with bad men, they value themselves or something else more than their partner (different sex or same, using hetero. here). Bad men engage in different abilities then good men. I am pointing out confidence in no because if you want to break that focus of pleasuring your wife and yourself completely (because good men want to see their wife happy, maybe bad men too occasionally for some other advantage - just guessing), only a louder no will do it. No has to be higher then proposal because if no is lower then proposal, good men will get confused [1.will, not rape, 2.maybe insist to recheck until outright no has been spoken clearly. Insisting can get them lumped up with bad men, coz Bad men Ignore and insist, Good men listen and can insist for a clear/finest/sharpest possible answer, risking lumped up because insist is there in both good and in bad men] and hence dissatisfaction from time to time will lead to breaking up because men want sexual satisfaction too from a relationship. In contrast, when bad men will get lower no then proposal, they will get rid of their confusion by saying something to themselves maybe that I matter more than you and that their insisting matter more than you a whole individual and asking further is futile and hence rape. I am trying my best to think about what and why where. When bad men get higher no then proposal, they will get angry and assault or leave you for a better option of a woman who has difficulty saying no more compared to you. Can't stop a person from asking for a woman and somewhere a girl saying yes to it. It's their right to have their own personal wants from this world. Assault is important here because good men might also get angry and confused when rejected but they will control themselves and turn themselves around to go down the path where they will ask themselves or from the situation itself, why no to me to check if something is wrong with themselves. Do they always deserve a no? In my personal example, I learned that just because a person likes me A LOT doesn't mean they like me COMPLETELY. A lot can mean as a person, as a friend, as a human being. Completely includes sexually and as a person. When good men get yes (either outright yes or after insisting an outright and confident yes), they get happy and perform and leave both parties with mutually wanted satisfaction. //////////// this is completely my best formed opinion \\\\\\\\\\\\\\\ My opinion of the movie is that they didn't make it clear enough that he was a bad man. 1. He hit her and gave her a black eye for refusing his wants instead of listening and clearing things up. This is a clear single of a bad man. 2. In the last scene, when he heard her clearly state that he has committed rape because consent was absent (don't know the reason but its clear cut reasonable answer) (Obtain consent verbally or non-verbally at least once, if not more, before starting sex even if 30 years has gone by) (healthy couples have sex regularly and know to what degree they have to ask and not ask - the healthy level of mutual understanding). _This is where I have my COMPLAIN._ When he heard her stating how things went on, he didn't hit her again like previously he did. If he was CLEARLY a bad man (based on past), he would at least get angry/scared/try committing suicide or something for blackmail. We know after angry, assault comes. Its absence confused me and hence not a clear answer. When he sat down, I thought he was introspecting that did he really do that. Bad people don't do introspection because that shows you a mirror. They want to stay ignorant, unlike good people who want to leave ignorance. Am I really a bad guy question scares bad people because what if they are or maybe deep down they refuse to admit that they are. Bad people + introspection = contradiction = unclear. Good men: Listen to no and get confused (no

I have mixed opinion on what Jaby said. He basically is suggesting to walk away, it takes more courage and conviction to stay and make it work. The problem with younger folk these days is they have very little patience, where as a relationship grows with passage of time, with give and take, with sacrifices from both sides. People nowadays dont give that much time, that is why divorce cases are increasing. Ofcourse when nothing works, it is better to part ways and go separate but give it time and a few chances before calling it quits.

I appreciate Jaby taking stance in a very difficult spot. A very logical stance. The lines between soft no and a hard no are very blurry. According to Amy Candles, ambiance, clothes, smell, lighting cleanliness nothing matters and nothing changes the girls mood. It's waste of doing anything. We have to just ask the girl in night pants if she says soft no, then we have to just leave. She is saying mood can't be affected by anything or any effort. You can never know your wife enough to understands what lights up her mood and it is crime even to try to change the mood of your spouse after initial soft no. This makes sense women take initiative in relationships, in sex everything. Obviously only the person who is doing something can go wrong. passive partner can never go wrong in such cases because they don't initiative at all. Country like India 98% women are passive so what Amy is advocating is not at all applicable here. Many girls I met want to be wooed, want to be taken care of, want to be on receiving side of gifts, dinners, etc and they act as if these external things change their mood. If I meet a girl at 7PM and ask her for consent for sex at 7:10 PM she would ask me to get lost. After a dinner date and couple of hours at 10PM she might say yes. same logic applies for 10PM to 12PM. why is making an effort wrong? is mood unchangeable? If I'm married to someone for 10 years is it rude to assume that I can change her mood? or should both of us live in constant fear for rest of our lives? Is living like that even worth it? these are the questions we as young generation should answer to better our way of life.

Thank you so much for writing this. I've had a similar problem in my relationship. For a while, I started to discontinue "getting her in the mood" after her initial uninterest. I felt nice that I was listening to her more, paying attention to the subtle clues. A few weeks later, she complains that she feels that I've lost interest in her. That was a revelation. The problem with "only yes means yes" is it ignores the fact that every relationship is different. Dynamics between any two people are going to be different. It develops, changes, grows over time and still might not lead to a perfect sync between the two. My mistake was that I looked at other people having relationship troubles, found their solution to be a nice, liberal, modern idea and tried to apply it to my relationship. It crashed and burned. In retrospect, obviously. Similar is the problem with this movement. It generalizes too much and implants a seed of doubt in even a healthy relationship which might be good in some cases but not in all cases.

Just a doubt . So what if I wanted to have sex and my partner said no ...but I wanted at that time ...I know that we should not have sex at that time but what I'm asking is what should I do next , be upset or wait for right moment or what? I'll give you an example I know this is not related analogy but a teenager wanted some money for a music concert but the parent did not give the money and so what happens here is that the child would be upset and would have the anger in mind . What I wanted to ask that what should be done next because my mood would be gone . I'm totally in consent with the thought of no means no . Just you know I'm curious.

@@tiwari_9010 I did mean having male role models at younger age. That's part of the problem currently. Father's are busy at work. A boy gets to spend more time with the mother. Or at school where most teachers are also females. A female view of masculinity is flawed cause it's coming from a place of femininity preservation. Thatswhy a lot of younger boys pick up toxic masculine traits such as fighting or doing drugs. Most Female role models want to suppress masculine traits cause it has the potential of doing harm. A male role model on the other hand will teach you to use your masculine traits for positive outcome.

If you have read Revolution 2020 by Chetan Bhagat you would know what I am talking about. And same is the reason there are no plans of making movie on that book. Because it is so anti-feminist that too in subtle way which is the worst. Here in this video is the same reason they didn't show enough to support the husband's side of the story. Because they didn't wanted to make this in favour of males but still the writer put the last pillow throwing part intentionally just to make up for it.

Okay here’s the thing Jaby. If a woman is uncomfortable she’s uncomfortable. She hesitates she’s uncomfortable. She whispers, murmurs no, she’s uncomfortable. It’s SIMPLE. It’s not about reading into it, this is about not being fully sure to commit in that moment and THAT needs to be respected, regardless of how guys are about reading nonverbal cues or not. And this also depends on how women are raised. I’ve been in a situation where I couldn’t say no out loud . But the point the other girl made is really important, MEN NEED TO UNDERSTAND THAT EVEN IF THERES HESITATION, it means no.

Well, partners make promises to each other and they love each other too. But as the jaby said all the promises cannot/should not be followed if you are being physically hurt by your partner. If a person is trying to hurt you emotionally then may be overthinking may have bad result. On the other hand, if someone is beating and hurting their partner, there should be consequences. That relationship has already failed to keep the respect to one n another. It is inhumane to treat anyone.

There should be no confusion about rape, marital or otherwise. It is an act of aggression committed by one person without the consent of the other. This so called blurring of lines just because marital rape occurs in marriage is a result of the sociocultural practices that result in women not having a voice ....A problem world wide not specific to any one culture.

While I support the women and respect them, and all for equality and women power, but I kinda also have mixed feeling. There are so many Mrs Dhavar who spreads these kinda women power propaganda and brainwash women to be anti-men. Like it's awkward to ask every time "Hey I beg your pardon but do you want to have sex right now?" to your wife. But I sure agree if she says seriously NO Stop, I don't wanna do this. Because not every husbands like to force their wives. They love their wives. Like Jaby said, those are sometimes Playfully no. But if she seriously say a hard NO, the guy will stop. I mean if a soft NO is a no, then it should be gender neutral. There are so many times, a guy plays video game and his gf comes up. She comes to him and start playing with him. The guy softly can say No and his gf keep going on. Now this is not as bad as it would sound if he goes to a domestic violence group and narrates the story and other people start putting their perspectives in it. It becomes toxic. There are a lot of domestic violence. They really need help. But the thing is Women and Men both can be victim. There are not even a law for Rape against men in India. Go figure xD i have gone way out of topic, haven't I?

In the subcontinent, there is an assumption that Girl's No means Yes. Because regarding sex girls are not open to say Yes/No. I was in 12 years of marriage, my wife did not say even 12 times strong yes. So it's really very difficult for men to understand whether they are in the mood or not. Because generation to generation they are taught sex is a taboo thing. I hope the new generation will have a strong voice to say YES/NO.

Jaby, as much as I understand what u r trying to say about teaching your daughter to leave, give her strength. It's not easy to leave. You can't leave. You have hope that it ll get better. You blame yourself. You think maybe it just happened this time, it ll never again. You ve seen the best of that guy, you believe he is wonderful. You can not believe they would do that. You are sure this is the last time it happened. You are attached. You are made to believe you are nothing without him. I loved it how Achara corrected with the self worth thing. Because yes. If You would remember you are something very important even when you are not with him. I like you guys' discussion a lot.

When a guy wants to have sex but girl isn't in the mood then the guy should respect girl's wish. But when a girl is in the mood and the guy isn't in the mood, then the girl says you have lost interest in me, are you cheating on me or she starts finding sex partner. So, it goes both the ways. Depends just on the person irrespective of the gender. Be a good human, that's all.

as a guy you are supposed to take a lead, but the right to say no is with the woman. what is the demarcation where taking the lead becomes abusive? for example, yesterday the girl is okay for a kiss, today she isnt. Do you have to ask at every step if you want to do anything? and for one girl what might be okay, is not okay for other girl. How do you know that? yes, the answer is 'listen to her'. if she says NO then dont move ahead....then come the women who say 'the guy must be talented enough to change my NO into a YES' also come the women who say ' They want the guy to be spontaneous' or they say ' Well i did not say NO, but I also did not say YES. And this entire conversation is just assuming that the Guy is Always ready to be intimate. Hitting the woman is wrong .Absolutely. but all the other confusion remains

And what if the man says NO ?????? Would you ladies take it soooooooo sportingly ? How many thoughts would cross your mind then ? He insulted me. He is not interested in me any more. He is having an affair. He had a bad day at the office. He's going impotent. And then you would need to have THE TALK. In a loving and successful marriage, what about the situation where there's conventional sex for years and the woman says that she'd really like it rough - the guys suggests a safe-word but she wants spontaneity and over powering. What's to be done then ? Which No means what No. Then, if the husband would try to define Yes and No and draw a clear line separating one from the other, the wife would turn it into a gray zone again expecting the husband to navigate confidently through uncharted waters. WTF ?

Great discussion. Achara & Amy were spot on. Agree with Jaby's view that men and women read signals/signs differently and appreciate that asking permission before kissing might not sit well with some girls, but sex is different. A proactive/over enthusiastic kiss is forgivable but pushing for sex is not. To quote Achara he did hit her, so on some level he must have faced resistance. Also I commend Jaby's general respect for women and his appreciation of some of the difficulties we face. I am a recent subscriber and absolutely love watching your channel and all your wonderful guests - it puts a smile on my face.
