Have you tried deflating your tires to increase the tire contact patch? I'm sure you already are aware of tire chains... real chains not cables. Especially helpful are "icebar" or "crossbar" chains. "Cable snow chains" do help traction but not nearly as much as real chains. If you are ever stuck because of loss of traction in snow or sand, deflating the tires so that the sidewalls bulge will often give you traction to become unstuck. This technique requires that you have an air compressor with you to refill the tires before highway/high speed driving (tires with low air pressure get hot at high speed). Also you must be careful turning because you can separate the tire bead and deflate the tire. Turn slowly/at slow speed. In Winter I always carry a large/regular metal snow shovel. Plastic shovels can break and make you use your hands when you are freezing. These are tips I have learned in 60 years of driving. It looks like you are having fun! Be safe!
