I’m rewatching this interview today and didn’t catch this part earlier!! As much as I’m a fan of Ali Azmat, I beg to differ on his point that Lata Mangeshkar was the legend she was because of the songs!! Reality is, the songs became legends because of Lata Mangeshkar !! When we are appreciative of artists, nationalism hardly plays a role ! He wanted to double down on his earlier ludicrous comments about Noor Jahan and also show that a Pakistani singer is the best.. actually Lata M is beyond borders, beyond worlds, beyond galaxies… God made her and broke the mould… it is believed that Ma Saraswati herself sang through Lata M’s voice 🙏🏽

Someone needs to interview Ali Azmat and ask MUSIC questions like what are his influences, which guitar player he admires, favorite composition. He is a musician and I'm sure he is not thrilled giving a million interviews all asking the same things which are not primarily about music.
