Did you take into consideration the cost of an optimizer and a fair fraction of the cost of a central inverter for panel when comparing the price of the AC-output Sunpower module to the optimizer-and-inverter-requiring DC-output LG module?

I know a lot about the solar industry and you’re just straight up misleading people. How can you possibly give LG a better warranty score?!? All they manufacture is the panels. Everything else, the inverters the racking, the monitoring hardware, the installation (Sunpower can offer factory direct installation) is a separate warranty from another manufacturer. How is it a benefit to have multiple different warranties on one system?? Look at the reviews online for people who have LG panels namely SunRun customers. They’re horrible. Because when something fails it’s a huge headache. This is just a straight up sales pitch. Give Sunpower some more xfactor points for having 1 warranty, a vertically integrated system with no third party manufacturers, the option for factory direct installation. Be honest your being an LG Stan. Factory installed inverters are a huge bonus. The only reason you can pair an LG panel with other inverters is because you HAVE TO. LG doesn’t manufacture inverters.

You left out a lot of factors,, SunPower is direct AC panels, LG requires inverters, Not Cheap to buy or install. You string 10 Sun Power panels direct to AC power supply. It will work with any system out there, The end product is AC power. This could be misleading to a lot of people out there.

How long until electric car batteries can be used? A 16 grand Tesla car battery has several times more cells than a couple power walls at the same price. Seems like a lot of profit margin in the batteries and no value option

Perhaps this video should be deleted, as it is now obsolete. Contrary to what was stated, LG is no longer in the solar business, though does promise to back their warranty somehow. The official statements from LG indicated that “the impact of increasing material and logistics costs, as well as severe supply constraints” were among the reasons it decided to shut down its manufacturing.

SunPower is good, but you should take a look at Aptos. The are about to release a 440W all-black solar panel in the smaller 60-cell form factor. It's a real game-changer.

HI everyone! After watching the Video it shows that LG Neon R is a better choice for home solar. I am leaning towards acquiring LG neon R. One other factor is that Sun power just went through Bankruptcy and are in process of restructuring. i don't know if that is good or bad. but definitely don't want to deal with any warranty issues. Hi Rudy and great question! In most cases, the warranty is transferrable to the new owner. Sometimes there is a small fee like $150.

Good question. At this time, we are only seeing SunPower + Tesla Power wall or SunVault. Although the SunPower panels include embedded Enphase micro-inverters, SunPower has its own proprietary communications software.

Paul wouldn’t be a benefit. SiunVault comes as a set including the Hub+ and then the SunVault ESS. The system installs cleanly. We typically only have to install a combiner box or trough and that’s it. Not a lot of wall clutter because the Hub+ does so much

Joe, I liked your presentation but I have a question. First, you need to know upfront I am considering solar and battery storage for a future build but I know next to nothing about the technicalities of either at this point. You mentioned that Sunpower has an integrated microinverter in the solar panel to change DC to AC. OK, why did they do that? It seems to me that would mean that by doing this, a person wouldn't need an inverter somewhere else down the line as you would for any other solar panel brand, right? My thinking is that you pay more for the Sunpower panel but save money (at some point) by not having to purchase an inverter. The question for me is not cost per panel, but total cost of installation, (in general terms) knowing that how many panels are used affects the overall price. Can you clarify for me?

Hi Dan. Thanks for the question. SunPower panels are not available for individual sale. You would need to purchase a complete system from a SunPower licensed dealer. I am comparing total cost for the complete system. In most cases, the SunPower system is the most expensive.

Enphase IQ7A micro-inverter would work with the LG neon r 440w. But please don't stick it to the panel itself due to high temperature that inverters emit

These panels don't provide any energy storage. For that, you would need to add a battery.

I would say that would be neutral. Both of these panels will use the IQ 7A micro inverter so the cost would be the same for that component.
