Really beautiful. What camera did you use? The horizon looks pretty flat for a GoPro, but that wave looked very dangerous for any camera that isn't waterproof! Did you use a tripod?

It was a GoPro Hero 2 in the waterproof case. I had it mounted to the flat square plate it was mounted on in the box it came in. It was set on Medium view instead of wide. Even on wide view if you keep the horizon in the center of the shot it should be fairly flat. This was my second attempt at this shot. The incoming wave picked up the camera and flat mount, and tumbled it around on the first try. When I shot this I had hoped some seagulls or other birds would land near the camera. I just set it down and took a walk up the beach and back. I had heard this song on an Omega Watch commercial and edited the video down to match it. The day before this it had rained like crazy and since we were in Galveston for a motorcycle rally I was really happy to have some nice clear weather.

Thanks! I've had my GoPro a few days now. Haven't had much time for testing. The last time I went to the beach I tried to get a shot similar to this... watched the high water mark for a while, finally set my camcorder down on the sand and the next wave that came in rose higher than all the rest and I had to swoop in and save the camera! It looks like the tide was out in your shot. We seldom have that much wet sand with waves coming in shallow, for so long at Destin. Congrats on your great shot. The gulls do make it perfect.

So I'm only 10 years old. A while ago my dad took to me to the sunrise on the beach and I fell in love with it. Every Saturday I beg and plead that we go. My dads back has a bulging disc so he can't drive. The doctors say he probably won't be able to drive for 3 months. I'm figuring that's enough time to watch it on the Internet. My family has offered to take me. But I tell them it's me and my dads thing.🌅🌊
