I wish if there was some details about the materials used in this video. I'm very curious, how come the layers were built, one above the other, without any mess happen to the leaves of the prior layer, or level.

From what I can tell, my guess is this is acrylic paint. The nice thing about acrylics is that they dry super fast and are waterproof. Meaning as long as the previous layer is dry, you can paint over it with washes like this or even just more undiluted paint. The paint shown at 1:22 *might* be an acrylic ink just based on how thin it is while still being super pigmented. Using an ink like that would save you time from trying to thin out acrylic straight from a tube.
