This is definitely the best tutorial I've seen on wool dreads, I'm very new to merino wool being as I'm used to synthetic (kanekalon) dreads. Thank you so much ! I hope you make more videos very soon!

After finishing crochet you don't have to roll dreads to felt into place? How are braided ones done? Just braiding it? Or something extra? Yours came out gorgeous 💞

Thanks for sharing your gifts! Now is this wool hair better than synthetic hair? Like or bundles of braiding hair ? or anyother hair type? Or do you absolutely stand by this? HAIR!? I want to be able to reuse it if possible! Thanks💜

Why would you choose crochet, over for example; just felting the wool? 👀🤷🏻♀️❓

i have wool that I don't want to dye do I have to pre-boil/ pre-felt the dreads in order for your method to work? I'm somehow afraid the dreads won't hold together.
@obsidiangraves59614 жыл бұрын
Wet felt your dreads,much faster, basicly whe she rolls them out in the sushi mat do that with hot soapy water on them, dye the after. U can even boil them in dye I a well ventilated rea to set dye both using microwave (I dont even own one so had to improvize)
@obsidiangraves59614 жыл бұрын
Have you tried wet felting them?? The part where you use the sushi mat, if u do that when they are wet with soapy water they will bind together with out crocheting at all
@melissawickison5634 жыл бұрын
It is a completely different look and style to just wet felting them. Wet felting can also make them lose a lot of colour. Crocheting gives more texture and detail. I have done both ways and I prefer the crochet look, even though mine aren't anywhere near as beautiful as MoonPhase's. It's a journey and each to their own.

I use undyed wool then boil dye them once they r made.. maybe I'll try crochet method as I have a colored wool blend that isn't felting

i am trying to make wavy wool dreads but i am having no luck getting them to hold the natural wavy curl they have, Im using Lancaster wool. any tips on getting them wavy?
@snigglesnurf22507 жыл бұрын
Why wouldn't you just use hot soapy water and a felting needle to felt the wool into a dread? Wouldn't that be easier and less time consuming? Hot soapy water + friction = felted wool. Unless, you're using super wash fiber, then it won't felt at all.
@albinodeeva68237 жыл бұрын
In my experience when rolling dyed dreads the colors will bleed and the darker dyes will get onto the lighter colored ones from the towel. This method the colors stay bright and there's no transfer. Im attempting this method next so my dreads stay super bright lol
@eloraschrader13706 жыл бұрын
Could you still wet them with olive soap and just use a palm rolling method, rather than crochet? Or does something about the dye process make this impractical?
@Fingerscrossedout2 жыл бұрын
I think it does because I am trying it now with already felted dreads and they don't look as real, I am currently trying by boiling the dreads first with olive soup and then crocheting them like in the video. However my dreads are not dry yet (boiled them yesterday). I am also thinking of dry crocheting them (like i mentioned first) and then put them in the washing machine and washing bag on a wool setting but high temperature to see if it will felt but keep the crochet in tact. :D You will likely not read this but with so bare wool tutorials around I want to atleast share a bit of my experience
