SUNSHINE ON LEITH & a guide to attending the Edinburgh Derby at Hibernian FC's EASTER ROAD

Visiting Edinburgh and want to attend a football match? In this video I show you the highlights of Leith and showcase attending a game at Hibernian FC at their home ground, Easter Road.
Lucky for me, the day I picked to film saw Hibs beat their city rivals, Hearts 1-0 to end a 9-game winless run in the derby & the sun was out, so wait until the end to witness 20,000 Hibs fans sing Sunshine on Leith at the top of their voices!
Leith is a great Edinburgh destination to visit. A short bus journey (or soon, a tram journey) away from the city centre, you'll find the docklands, Michelin star restaurants, pubs that date back hundreds of years and boutique hotels, such as floating hotels like The Fingal and Ocean Mist. You'll also find Easter Road, the home stadium of Hibernian FC and one of two Edinburgh Scottish League Clubs.
Attending any Hibs game is a joy, but visit on derby day and the atmosphere ramps up just a little more. For the best of the atmosphere get a ticket in the East Stand. Not only will you be swept up in the songs, (make sure to know the lyrics to The Proclaimers' Sunshine on Leith - Hibernian's official song) but you'll also get a glimpse of Arthur's Seat through the stands to your left.
Whilst Hibs fans are truly passionate about their team, it's a safe environment to be in, even as a visitor and as I have found, you'll often get chatting to whoever you are sitting next to.

Attending the Edinburgh Derby also gives you an insight into just how passionate of a football city Edinburgh is. Often known for its history such as Edinburgh Castle and hills such as Arthur's Seat, or rugby at Murrayfield but the city also has two Football Clubs that further add to the city's sport & adventure highlights.

Tremendous video and tremendous concept for a channel. I was in Edinburgh for around the new year and got the chance to experience a match at Easter Road vs. Celtic. While it didn't go as well for the Hibees, the atmosphere was tremendous. Truly a highlight of my vacation. The club and supporters definitely created a new supporter stateside. Speaking of the States, I see you have videos in LA and New York. I always tell sports fans that the best way to experience "real America" is going to a top level college football game in the southeastern or midwestern United States. It gives a much more representative look at America than is seen in New York or LA. Just an idea for future content.

I loved my time in the States, I travelled from New York west and finished up in LA. You're quite right about college football and I was unfortunate not to make it to a game. A simple case of the season not being on when I was in the country. But you're right and a college football game is on my list. I did make it to some great smaller, less high profile sports events such as visiting the baseball team, Altoona Curve which was a really nice insight into daily American life - -have you watched that vid? But for sure, on my next journey across America, I'l make sure college football is on the agenda.

Great, you got to a Derby when both teams are playing terrible..the quality was terrible. You want a good atmosphere go to Tynie. Renowned atmosphere, ER is half empty unless its Derby day.

Any atmosphere at Tynecastle is provided by the away fans, even Hearts fans admit it's pish at most games. Hibs average is 16,000 plus for a 20K stadium ... only a Jambo could call that half empty lol
