सुनता है गुरु ज्ञानी, ज्ञानी, ज्ञानी
गगन में आवाज हो रही है झीनी झीनी
In this enigmatic song Kabir draws us towards the origins of all creation: a drop, a sound, the drum of in and out. The sound that reverberates in the universe, and in the human body, is 'unstruck', original, unconditioned. One who tunes into it is a rare one, a true guru.
The right student listens to the Guru’s instructions which are always present and he/she shall be guided by the Guru provided the student enters into that emptiness through stillness (here the sky is compared to that of emptiness or stillness). The Guru always speaks in Silence. Only when our minds chatter stops and when we enter into Silence we can hear the whisper of Guru or Cosmos.
To understand or listen to Guru’s words, one has to practice pranayama repeatedly by keeping the attention on the forehead between the eyebrows (trikuta) or the ajna chakra which is the meeting point of the ida, pingala and sushumna nadis. By staying at trikuta while practicing hamsa or soham and going to the root of “Who am I?” one enters into the Stillness and can experience the Silence. Here one can also listen to the eternal naadam.
Kabira says, please listen, understand and experience yourself this non-dual, ageless, and immortal eternal Truth. All those who become aware of this eternal truth shall see this world as transient and attain the same ageless and immortal state.
Performed by Smita Bellur, sway yourselves to beats of this beautiful composition.
Translation:
Only a wise listens to the sky
Where a subtle sound reverberates
I am that! the sound plays when the words strikes at my Trukuti Chakra
The left, right and middle channel meets, a white flag waves
A subtle sound reverberates in the sky
You came from there to the addressed assigned here, but still, you dint quench your thirst
Leaving Nectar, you drink poison; and reverse the act blindly
A subtle sound reverberates in the sky
You came from the seed of the celestial music, and hold water at the back
Every shore speaking the wordless words of the lord
A subtle sound reverberates in the sky
The one who is the witness of every single moment, whose presence is eternal
Says Kabir, listen O seekers, these are the words of a wise
A subtle sound reverberates in the sky
