Juneteenth is an essential Christian holiday: You, my brothers and sisters, were called to be free. But do not use your freedom to indulge the flesh; rather, serve one another humbly in love. For the entire law is fulfilled in keeping this one command: “Love your neighbor as yourself.” - Galatians 5:13-14 Frederick Douglass' speech on July 4th is essential reading. People struggle with understanding God's will stems from their lack of interest in God's laws and commandments. The "light to my path" verse comes from Psalm 119 which is ridiculously long and a huge love letter to the law. What happened last week isn't confusing. We have one candidate who didn't answer the questions, lied, and spewed racist drivel he's been repeating since 2015 while the other candidate looked like he was having a medical emergency because he's determined to die in office after serving his entire life in office. When we don't have a foundation in love and God's expectations, life is a lot harder.

Jesus glorifies his Father, the one true God (John 17:4, 7-8, 22, 25): Jesus said to the Father, “[4] I have glorified thee on the earth: I have finished the work which *thou gavest me to do.”* [7] Now they have known that all things whatsoever *you have given me come from YOU.* [8] For I have given unto them the words which *YOU gavest me;* and they have received them, and have known surely that *I came out from you,* and they have believed that you did send me.” [22] And the glory which you gave me I have given them; that they may be one, even as WE are one: [25] O righteous Father, the world has not known you: but I have known you, and these have known that you have sent me. [3] And this is life eternal, that they might know YOU-the Father-the only true God, AND Jesus Christ, whom you have sent (John 17:3).
