How's the build quality? is it solid when you lock everything or is there some play? I think unless I pay 5 times the price for a similar Acratech tripod head, you can't find many similar heads with an arcaswiss adapter that can be rotated for both large telephoto lenses and L brackets, so it seems enticing.

cant you just turn the camera around to get 90 degrees up?

Yes, you can but the purpose was to not waste the time to turn it around. So let's say you were doing astrophotography, are you going to turn around and or re-position yourself after getting the alignment set and ready? do you really want to find a new composition because you have to turn it around? but if my subject was in front of me then I can't turn it around. Why can't you just put your camera on the other way round & tilt it up 90 degrees if you have to tilt that far.

Not being able to use it for astrophotography is a huge disappointment. Great review...

you can use it for astro but you can tilt it 90 degree both ways (depends how you are using it)
