Of course the speaker of this session is supposed to reinforce the ideology that has been so carefully intertwined in our NCERTs, as much as it is necessary to study history with the lens that NCERT provides, more so for an exam like UPSC -a word of advice for the aspirants, take most of what you hear here with a pinch of salt. The ancient history of Bhārata is still a British legacy, especially the lens with which it approaches in culling out select evidences, and creating a tapestry of lies targetting the cultural practices. To that end, regional practices would be painted with wide strokes, and one would find a non-chalant homogenisation of practices. "Aryan Invasion Theory" is not *being* challenged. It has already been busted with evidences. It is unfortunate that we are still to see the reflection in our NCERT books properly, as much as in the educators specially in the domain of UPSC. Idol worship and _vigraha-seva_ are two different things. But then, I don't expect the speaker to be invested in these nuances either. She is doing her job, professionally I must say. But your definition of "worshipping humans as gods or in form of images" as a definition is faulty and misleading. Also, your opinion about "cows being eaten extensively" is wild. A lot gets lost when one relies heavily only on ascending process of learning. Ours has been a civilization based on a descending process. Lacking evidences you can say that *cows were not worshipped unlike other animals that you so passionately mentioned, and there are some evidences to suggest beef was consumed. Having said that, cow meat was "extensively" eaten is a wild claim to make. It is just a gross interpolation to make a certain point.*
