if you combine the three items (suomy shield tool, paperclip, key) you can always be sure that you will have the shield tool with you !

thanks for the helpful video..... it'd been while since I changed out a Spec1R shield and this brought it all back to me.

It shouldn't be that difficult. Sounds like your pivot kit maybe too far back, try loosening the two screws and sliding it forward just a touch on both sides. This will give the cover kits room to pop into place. That and keep and mind it takes a fair amount of pressure to pop them on the first latch (top).
