Are the pumps you get with cheaper boards worth your time and effort? In this video we check out the 3.5l pumps (with most cheaper boards) with the HP5 7 litre pump. Should you spend the cash or just get an electric one?

The difference between the HP5 (in this video) and the HP6 is the 6 is slightly smaller and a little lighter, functionality is pretty much identical.

Just stumbled across this and your electric pump video, as I was looking to go electric but now seeing this I’m wondering about triple action pumps. Are they really all the same as I’ve seen some reviews about the Jobe one on amazon that aren’t great.

All triple action pumps are pretty much identical, I rate them and use them myself. Not a jobe one but a fanatic hp5 pump.

Ok, it will get faster with the other pump, but 10'6 board I normally pump with Aquaplanet pump to 17psi in just over 5 minutes. Yes I'm tired, but treat it as a warm up. I'm 43yo moderate fitness.

From what I've seen Aquaplanet have upgraded the pumps that come with the newer boards. It's still a question of making life that little bit easier :)

Yeah, silky smooth, night and day over the cheap pumps you get with the budget board packages. Thanks for checking this out bud!

Great channel and great advice. Started SUP boarding not too long ago, took your advice with avoiding an Aquapl***t board and now with pumps - stay manual! Great work. New sub 👍

Hey Dready, get with the technology. Don't mess with the physical stuff. I am all electric. I use two electrics, one simple job to fill the volume then I switch to the more powerful electrical. I throw a towel over the pump to deaden the noise and whilst all this is going on I slip slowly and gracefully into my dry suite.

Hey bud! I tried a couple of electric pumps but found them both far too slow, I also like the mild warm up before I get in :D Sound won't be a problem with our new camper when it's finished as the boards would fit inside but I haven't found one at a reasonable price that doesn't take forever to pump them up, especially if you are trying to fill a touring board of 11' or more.

@@Dreadysays Mine is Lithium powered; known as an intelligent electric pump. Now that I am 75 years old I don't need to get my exercise this way when I can run a marathon or two instead. Pumping is for you youngsters. I do keep a regular pump about my person though just in case the intelligent electric pump goes awol. !!

I have a couple inflatable boards. Even though I pump the boards up full, the pin barely even moves.
@Dreadysays
@Dreadysays 2 жыл бұрын
Usually the pin in the meter doesn't move till around 8-10 psi, if the pin is still not moving after 10mins of pumping then it's a broken gauge or one of the cheaper/bad pumps.

@@Dreadysays it might be. I mostly just use my judgement in this case. If the board feels hard then I assume it’s ready.
@Dreadysays

@@dcram76 I would keep going, the board will feel hard around 10 psi but the difference between 10 and 15-18 is huge for stability and rigidity of the board.

Hi, what's your experience been with thr cheaper smaller capacity 2 stages compared to the dual cylinder triple stages? If you've found a cheaper alternative please let us know so we can check them out as I would be interested.
