Thanks Dave... surfing has always been my passion and SUP has allowed me to follow my stoke as life progresses. So grateful to have this much fun as I charge towards 80! 😊 Just keep moving forward following your dreams and the rest happens!!

Thanks for posting your videos, I learned a lot from you when I was starting out. One of the best things I learned from you is about kicking the board through/over big waves then going under with your body.

Thanks for your gracious feedback , it is much appreciated! I am going to add a lot of "How To" videos after I finally get around to monetizing my channel.

Rick, always pure enjoyment watching your videos. Happy days when the weather cooperates and the waves provide an open face to be worked by a Ghost.

Your videos put a smile on my face Señor rick ! The rails forward of this board look devilishly thin..
@rickweeksАй бұрын
Thanks AP, I hope you are well and waves a re good! The nose is a very good thickness for durability and float... not too thin, not too thick.

Well Rick, as always!! A fantastic video. Why do you catch the waves paddling on the left side? You are regular rider. Thanks
@rickweeksАй бұрын
Thanks David, I appreciate that! I get a lot more power from my left side paddle because my left foot is forward and that enables me to reach further forward and drive my weight onto my front foot. When I paddle right side into waves my shoulders don't get the same power. Oddly, I paddle flatwater 80% on my right side because I can match my paddle side and back foot control to paddle much straighter than I can on my left side. Basically it's a "nose or tail" control difference. Taking off on a wave, I also love the shoulder twist I get when I throw my paddle from left side to right side which gives me a snappier turn down the wave.

A great explanation. Thank you very much Rick. I really appreciate your good technique! Greetings from Spain

@@daveo6615 My pleasure, in fact, I copy/pasted my answer into notes for a future video discussing paddle side preference. More to open a discussion for people to see different options that might work for them... so thank you for the question!

Rick, thanks for sharing the experience , one that Im more familiar with. :). BTW, care to share which paddle you are using?
@rickweeksАй бұрын
GeneRation S81 Carbon paddle, skinny stiff shaft, "T" style handle, 6.5" wide blade. Very fast cadence with this paddle Sunova Carbon, thicker shaft, slightly more flex, Palm style handle, 7.5" wide blade. Super nice paddle Both are very light and very durable.... it mostly comes down to which style handle you prefer.

Hi again Rick.. If you wouldn't mind giving me a little advice, I'm wanting a new board and am contemplating the 9'2" Steeze, and having ridden so many models, could you tell me how it compares in general to others in that length and volume in wave catching ability, as I am having a few issues in that area at the moment. Cheers and thank's Rick.

Some days, man. Backpack strap keeps snagging on something. Paddle slips, foot placement off, tripping on the extension cord for the fan, one of those days.
