Remember how after the Straw Hats got bodied by Aokiji, they regrouped and learned from their loss? Because of that, we got G2 and G3, Asura, and Diable Jambe. I think Luffy losing to Katakuri and half of the Straw Hats nearly getting destroyed by the Big Mom pirates will be good for them.

Kinguu lemme straighten this for you and other people who don't really get the relation between sea water and dfs: DF users have always been depicted with their powers enabled in sea water: Luffy's neck stretched in Arlong park's sea water pool although he went limber and lost his stamina, same thing in the Bananawani cage in Alabasta. Moria's zombies are weak to sea water because it contains salt. I'm pretty sure Jinbe even says something like that. Crocodile has elemental weakness to liquid in general. Kairoseki is different thing altogether, even though it was introduced as a mineral that radiates "sea energy" or whatever the fuck. The fact is, only Kairoseki disables DF powers, not sea water. Aokiji froze the seas, and Whitebeard tilted them. Case closed, until proven otherwise.

Something I want to make note of about Dogtooth and Perospero is their weaknesses. Like here you were confused about Perosperos candy being able to retain form in water. The candy he creates has only been shown to be weak against heat and based on his words in this chapter, his candy cannot withstand most forms of heat so heat in general can take care of his candy. Water has never been shown to affect his candy, he even formed candy in the water when he trapped the Sunny and this showing here should solidify that fact. Dogtooth's mochi is weak against liquids, something that we witnessed firsthand as Jimbei used tea to dissolve it when he caught Luffy. The main thing to note is that we do not know if his mochi is also weak to heat/fire because we have yet to see it interact with him in an impactful way (and it's unclear if that tea Jimbei used was hot or not). However, we can be sure that most forms of liquid dissolve his mochi rather easily, forcing him back into his base form. I thought I should type this to help clear up any misconceptions.

Pudding's attitude makes sense because her personality used to be sweet but she had to create an evil persona to cope with the abuse. Now that Sanji complemented what pudding got abuded about, her sweet personality is coming out and now she goes back and forth.

Just a little theory here... what if Luffys discovers his awakening through fighting katakuri. Katakuri has been showing to fight in similar/ same ways as luffy, only better versions like with the gear 3rd... so maybe luffy will be able to learn a version of katakuris fighting styles (since they're similar) and potentially get awakening. After this ark is kiado, Luffy needs an upgrade, and zoro has been telling Luffy to get his shit together... what better way to show that to Zoro then showing up with awakening? ( I have a lot of other little reasons to back it up too, but I'm too lazy to type that on a cracked iPhone screen...) lol

For Perospero, the Candy he manipulates is not a part of his base body so anything he makes isn't weakened when it touches water. (well candy would probably eventually dissolve in water but that's beside the point). Unlike say katakuri whose mochi is apart of his base body so he couldn't make a mochi bridge to walk across water with.

Yeah, though it's a bit different because he's a Logia. He can make ice by freezing water and then walk on it, but he couldn't, for example turn his lower body into an ice boat and sail with it because that would be a part of his base body.

If Luffy wins I will be so disappointed, that would be truly one of the biggest asspulls in the series. If Luffy manages to scratch him it would be slightly dumb considering the difference in levels but it would be understandable and a good sign to show Luffy how big of a gap he has to overcome.

Ain't riding no dick but this a common anime situtation where a character fights someone with the same power to show how much they've grown but katakuri starts using his own named moves sooner or later will be the real fight.

no man, it will not be an asspull, you cannot say that you don' tknow how he will win, what would be WAY more bullshit is if Luffy lose to Katakuri and after that is able to escape, because if Katakuri wins here, what prevent him to just kill Luffy right after his victory ? people calling bullshit on Luffy's victory doesn't seems to realize that if he loses One Piece is over.

It wouldn't make sense for Luffy to right off the bat beat someone who's shown to be better than him in every category so far, especially with superior haki too. More so, to beat two yonkou commanders would be too much. More so OP wouldn't be over, he'd most likely be saved or escape somehow which seems likely but typical. Katakuri losing to Luffy would make zero sense especially how he's been built, his bounty and his superior abilities. I just personally don't see Luffy over powering him. Fighting giant animals on an island for 2 years does not make him seem like he could over power a probable new world veteran with *so far* the best observation haki in the series
