I have only one advice to give, it's up to you if you decide it's an useful one: JoJo works by having different arcs that share a mythology and some characters, but each part definitely feels different from the other and it's more than likely you'll have some you find really good while others not your cup of tea. To give you an example: part 1 is an over the top victorian drama mixed with hokuto no ken; part 2 is balls to the wall amazing over the top action mixed with 80's action movies; part 3 finally welcomes the concept of stands (copied by stuff like Persona & Shaman King) and feels like a road trip movie. Finally, Part 4, the one that's currently airing and my personal favorite, is basically a slice of life murder mystery mixed with very unique battles and a really original villain that shows up quite late to the game. My point is, if you like it from the get-go, this comment was a waste of your time. But if you don't, maybe you should stick with it. What I can guarantee is that it deserves its cult status and you won't find it "generic" at least.

Purple Haze is a Stand that is very aggressive in combat. When those bulbs on its hands are busted, they release a flesh eating virus that surrounds the Stand, making Purple Haze a force to be reckoned with.

i'd recommend watching jojo, until where it is now, then reading the rest in color, except part 5 which doesn't have color yet, so that would be black and white. If you want I could send links to the jojo manga.

The first two parts of Jojo's are best, in my opinion. It started to lose me at part 3 but I'm still watching so I guess they did something right

I never bought Purple Haze because it's a stand that belongs to a character I dislike from Part 5. I do have the rest of the team though. It's a shame about the sloppy paintjob, it's the one thing this line usually excels at. It was a complicated pattern I guess. I hope you start watching the anime or reading the manga, the former is very faithful to the latter. It really has great world-building.
