This remarkable little bird migrates thousands of miles each year on its annual migration from the tip of South America to its breeding grounds in the Arctic. From the PBS film Crash: A Tale of Two Species, we learn how interconnected all creatures are. Produced, Directed, Written and Edited by Allison Argo. Cinematographers Michael Male and Andrew Young were nominated for a National Emmy for this film (additional photography and editing by Chris Szwedo).

Is the frequencies in the air preventing migration? Are they declining in numbers because the frequencies is too harsh on their wings? Like a butterfly æffect?

Numbers still decreasing and nesting ground more and more empty. :( I'm a wild bird rescuer, and I rescued over 12 this last fall who were sick with toxicity in the Caladesi Island area of Florida. We were able to nurse them back to health at Birds in Helping Hands and release most of them back into the wild again. They need help, and Delaware Bay needs to be completely off limit to harvesting of horseshoe crab eggs and any disturbance of the rufa red knots when they stop over there along their migration to Chile.

I heard on the radio this fine morn that an unusually large number have just landed on our shores - or more accurately, muddy estuaries - here in England. They were interviewing a rather gleeful-sounding twitcher in Norfolk.

Happy to report there were hundreds of red knots today at Norbury's Landing, and I was told that the numbers were the best in years. They are very cool looking little birds.
