It looks like the original NES ice hockey mixed with river city ransom and mix of golf story which is pretty awesome,would love a mutant league hockey for switch as well.Hopefully EA will make a legit good port of NHL hockey to switch tho would be nice to have a legit NHL hockey game on switch

It's a lot of fun and reminds me of Blades of Steel, but only. More modern. The computer AI is good and I'm having a tough time winning games, (even on easy!) but I'm hoping to get better. Thanks for the review!

It doesn't get easier it only gets harder. I hate this game because you just can't win no matter what. They should have tested this game before releasing because it's impossible. The other thing is you can't aim your shots it always hits the goalie so every shot gets blocked.

@@1sinister80 That's the first lesson to winning. Don't go right at the goalie. Create a give and go situation so that you pass to a player for a goal. For example, dribble the puck low to bring the goalie down, then pass to your player up high for a one-timer. Sometimes you can go straight at the goalie, but then flick the stick the opposite direction right before hitting the goal shot. Also, on defense, always get your player between the shooter and the goalie. You will intercept it most every time. Always be checking too. You got this!

@@napynap I would tell you to try to play it first. You can't control the player always shoots right at he goalie. It way to hard. Better controls would be good.

hey love the channel -- i think i've noticed why your subs arent shooting up in correlation with your content output. because of the nature of review channels, people usually only stop by when they are interested in a particular game. this means subs on a channel like this are much more valuable because you get much more "organic" traffic. I've noticed you dont enthusiastically suggest to the audience at the beginning of each video "make sure to subscribe" sounds too good to be true doesnt it? i suggest trying it out and watching the dramatic effect it has. cheers

Thanks Mason we actually get more subscribers per view than almost any other Nintendo Switch channel right now. 18,000 subs since Christmas and going strong. We've done the overt thing but overall it just comes across as desperate. We have a sub popup instead. Right at the logo. Mark

The game gave me the chills. I remembered the good ol times with the NES and Nintendo World Cup. This games looks much alike and for the price I may pick it up. I guess it is only for eShop? It would definetly buy it as a cartridge. Superb review, as always, cheers and have a good one! :)

Just bought mk11 for ps4, picking up days gone tonight, bought dragons dogma on switch, still need to catch up on cuphead, shadows die twice, dmc5, and a bunch of others. EA Hockey and Mutant League Hockey from the Mega Drive would be amazing on Switch. For me, the original EA Hockey with national teams is the most fun I've done in a hockey. I named every player.

The last portable NHL was 07 on the PSP, I’ve been after a hockey game since day 1 but this just isn’t at all like what I wanted. I wish EA just took the 3 on 3 mode from NHL 19 and gave us that for £15. I’ll take 3 on 3, even though the Avs 3 on 3 record this year was abysmal, lol Hell I’ll take a damn port of NHL HITZ 2001 as that’s the reason I’m an Avs fan, just get someone to port that Gamecube gem. This is NES Ice Hockey (which I’ve always hated as Konami’s NES Blades Of Steel was better) only with blood and brawls 🙄

I feel like this game is missing something. The gameplay is fun, but gets boring after a while. The franchise mode has the ability to be great, but lacks enough variety to keep the play time further than a few hours. I made it 2 seasons before it got boring (like you said in the review) if they just added a little bit more to the franchise outside of the game it would be an easy 5/5 to me. Until then in my opinion wait for a huge sale (I got it for like $4)

This game sucks. I bought the Physical copy at the game con in Phoenix. I have played it and tried to win but it's impossible. This game is like Karnav impossible I wouldn't get this unless you just want to be frustrated. Mind you I'm playing on the easiest setting. The closes I have come is OT and I always loose. You can do anything unless you win because you fan only buy with money that you can't win.

I haven't seen this game before and I must say, even though I hate hockey, that your review just convinced me to buy the bloody thing. Decades ago, I used to love NES's Ice Hockey but Blades of Steel felt too sophisticated and sporty. As a side note, some of the Finnish player names seen on the screen are Bully, Sausage, Sparkplug and Polarnight. Appropriately silly shit.
