The funny thing about that is that James at least would struggle to play an easy modern game but he can beat far harder retro games. I've been gaming for almost as long as James and Mike but I suck at retro games. I have done this before as a kid.. To jump those turrets its pixel perfect. But it can be done. There are also a LOT of other places that have to be pixel perfect.. I got to the final stage but I was never able to beat the game doing it this way. ( And yes bosses and mini bosses are the ones you have to make an exception to the no kill rule. However its possible to pass all the other stuff so far that I have seen with the end stage possibly being an exception. )

people do it without tool assist. Look up "Super C Pacifist" and you can find runs and runners. It's its own speedrun category for this game (and many other games have this category too)
