SUPER-CAT: dual anti-glutamate therapy in super-refractory status epilepticus after cardiac arrest

Simone Beretta, MD, PhD, Università degli Studi di Milano-Bicocca, Milan, Italy, discusses the SUPER-CAT trial, which is investigating dual anti-glutamate therapy in super-refractory status epilepticus after cardiac arrest. The SUPER-CAT protocol combines ketamine and perampanel to block NMDA and AMPA receptors, significantly improving outcomes for patients. This multicenter retrospective study shows a resolution rate of about 80% compared to 40% with other treatments. This interview took place at the 15th European Epilepsy Congress (EEC) 2024 in Rome, Italy.
