Hi folks,
As per yesterdays poll here’s the super cheap retaining walls video - watch until the end for an unmissable offer 😉

Thanks to the commenters and folk that share these on, they’re intended as light hearted entertainment, some are absolute crackers some a bit more serious. I love the model railways, I love filming them going about their business and I love chatting about them. No one in my house is interested in listening to me chat about them, hence I chat to you guys. Feel free to ask any questions.
The intention of this channel is to come at a different angle from the usual and do my own thing which may or may not be everyone’s cup of tea.
It gets me some peace up here in the loft though so I’ll keep it going. I only have a small fleet as they’re all the new sound fitted models and it’s a new hobby so don’t expect a different loco in each video. Hope you like this one, cheers! Dave

Another lighthearted and this time instructional video. One hint you didn’t advise of, which I think is highly important; when using your tea mug as a stand, “Don’t drip super glue in to your tea” ! Or it might need extra sugar 😂

Really like the look of those. I admire your no nonsense approach to building and weathering. It’s something I keep putting off through fear of failing but like you said previously, it’s something you’re only going to get better at over time.

Personally I’d put the loco weathering off for ages as my cheapest loco was £190 and is six weeks old! but really enjoyed it in the end. The Humbrol wash method is really good as you can’t really get it wrong as the enamel thinners remove it if you go too heavy 👍 I’d recommend that technique for starters 👍 - thanks for the comment, Dave

Hi Dave - That is an excellent example of cut price scratch building and the Blue brick does look good like an Aldi version of Metcalfe kits. I totally agree with you on the tea strength , I like mine similar to Humbrol 110 and when I see people with something like Humbrol 103 I feel outraged !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Did mine yesterday. Very similar design - Metcalfe brick sheets and scrap 3mm plywood. Almost 4 feet of it, so I've saved myself £730 buying yours.

This is top class. I also keep all bits of cardboard box. My wife keeps asking why but I don’t really tell her, just have a growing pile,of small boxes on my side of the bed. I am also a Yorkshireman if that makes any difference. Anyway, two of them boxes are being turned in to an engine shed. I hadn’t thought about having a retaining wall, but I will now.

Being a bit of a rivet counter, I like your walls better as the bricks are more to scale than the Metcalf, plus the colour is more realistic.

62 pound 80 for a cardboard wall? Do you work for Bachmann? 🤣 I made some retaining walls with 3mm ply and home-printed brick paper. They're not as good as yours though. Nice video mate. Cheers!

You watched it right to the end👌 passed the test 😁 🏅 On my actual layout I have used 3mm Foamex rather than scrap card so they’re a bit more durable, but that’s not super cheap then unless you get it for free which I did from some old obsolete signage I had 👍👍
