Two days after the city police arrested two notorious inter-state sandalwood poachers at the Cubbon Park, a sandalwood tree has been stolen from the National Academy of Customs, Indirect Taxes and Narcotics (NACIN) campus in Jalahalli.According to the police, The three-member gang stole the tree on Thursday night. The accused also made futile attempts to cut two more sandalwood trees. “The staff verified the CCTVs that is said to have been installed inside the campus. The footage shows three persons leaving the spot at 2.18 am on Thursday and walking along the boundary wall. The accused took away the sandalwooden log of around four feet by pruning the branches and leaving them on the spot,” said an officer. Police suspect the accused could be part of the five-member gang arrested by the Cubbon Park police.
