The show premiered on aired from September 12, 1992 to December 5, 1992 on FOX, and reran until September 4, 1993. The series was cancelled after its first season, but a special based on the series titled The Super Dave Superbowl of Knowledge aired on January 29, 1994. The series was produced by Blye-Einstine Productions, along with DiC Entertainment and Reteitalia, Ltd with animation by Hung Long Animation Co., Ltd., SaeRom Plus One Co., Ltd. Animation. Each episode began with Dave narrating the premise of the upcoming show over clips and ended with a live-action Dave introducing and showing stunts recycled from the Super Dave show. The show starred and was based on the comedy of late actor Bob Einstein and his Super Dave Osborne persona. Both Bob Einstein and Art Irizawa provided the voices for Super Dave and his assistant, Fuji Hakayito, and also appeared as their characters in live-action skits which ended each episode. Halfway through the show's initial run, Irizawa was asked to modify his voice for Fuji, following complaints to Fox from Asian-American groups that the character was an offensive stereotype. Irizawa subsequently re-recorded his dialogue for all of the show's episodes. Although short lived, the show was a success at the time. All of that damage control ultimately proved to be for nothing as Daredevil for Hire wasn’t renewed for a 2nd season. Buena Vista Home Video released “Space Case” and “Con Job” to VHS, marking the only release of the series to date. Super Dave, however, continued to make appearances on various programs, talk shows, game shows and his own specials. The show later aired on The Family Channel for 3 months from June 11 to September 23, 1994. Toon Disney later aired reruns of the show from April 14, 1998 to September 1, 2002. I heard That They Reused Some Of The Music From Captain N: The Game Master On Super Dave: Daredevil for Hire.

Yeah Sadly super dave did not do to well with Kids. It was very , Very short lived. Probably was testing it out. He was to see how it would do.
@LawrenceW788 ай бұрын
@@kerry1979 I think the cartoon portion of the show was fine, but when it came to the live-action sequences that's what probably lost kids because the original airings of the stunts from his variety show and the show Bizarre were rather profanity-laced as well as not being very kid friendly

I liked that show. Shame it was so short lived.

I remember watching Super Dave: Daredevil for Hire back in the 90s when I was very young and I really do enjoy watching the show. I wished the series is finally on complete DVD at last so I can relieve my childhood memories but until then I can still watched the episodes on KZbin.

@@edwardgaines6561 The only difference is that this show is more cartoonier (similar to like Ren and Stimpy (without the gross out and crazy faces) and Adventures of Sonic), while the other is more anime-esque. Fun Fact: The animation studio behind Super Dave, Saerom Animation, would later work for some iconic shows, like The Twisted Tales of Felix the Cat, CatDog, Adventure Time and The Marvelous Misadventures of Flapjack.

Not surprising. The show was produced by DiC. Apparently that was their style.

The show got into trouble because of the ridiculously-stereotypical caricature of Dave's sidekick/promoter Fuji; it was edited to give Fuji big round pupils instead of those slanted slits, but the show was as good as dead.
@NeurospicyBitch884 жыл бұрын
I thought so. Because I looked back and questioned how the fuck anybody could get away with that back in 1992

Well, that and considering DiC's track record of over producing crap during the Heyward years (that said, his era still had some good shows (Hammerman, Madeline, Street Sharks, Where On Earth is Carmen Sandiego, 2 of the 3 Sonic cartoons, The Super Mario Bros Super Show, Double Dragon and yes I'm fully aware I mostly mentioned crap ironically but a lot of those are also guilty pleasures for me. Having said that, kudos to DiC for their adaptation of Madeline and the fact thankfully theu didn't make that one "hip fo' da kidz") but his era wasn't as good as the Jean Chalopin era was), Super Dave: Daredevil likely would not have lasted either way

They also caught a lot of flack about Art Irizawa's voice acting of Fuji. They ended up having to back and redo all of Fuji's dialogue to make it sound less stereotypically Asian. By then, DIC probably decided that it wasn't worth the grief to do another season, and Fox probably agreed. I suspect Irizawa still kept the accent for the live-action Super Dave, though.

I found out that a few background music cues in 3 episodes of Super Dave: Daredevil for Fire "Space Case", "Con Job", and "Pain Nine From Outer Space" were originally used in season 2 of Captain N: The Game Master: kzbin.info/www/bejne/bnjbnIGwmLWtg5o at 7:01 and 8:10 kzbin.info/www/bejne/mqjPfZd9qLaKmJo at 16:28 kzbin.info/www/bejne/q5e8ZWetarmgh5Y at 1:23

I'm not surprised. DiC tended to cut corners when it came to a lot of their shows (at least during the Andy Heyward era. Chalopin era DiC may have produced a lot of hit and miss shows (that said, his era of the company had a lot of awesome shows) but at least by comparison, Chalopin era DiC animation (which in all fairness could look decent at times almost looking close to a hand drawn Euro Japanese Anime style (that said, TMS (a prolific Anime studio) did the animation for a lot of the early American DiC cartoons. They even collaborated with the original French DiC on Ulysses 31 and the Lupin VIII pilot that almost was) looked a hell of a lot better by tv animation standards (and considering what came out back then, that's saying a lot!). Whereas once Andy took over, quality of the shows suffered tremendously (especially since in the early 90's he would commission like 15 shows a year in hopes one of them was a hit) with lots of animation errors and I guess another factor we could add to that is recycled music
