You will be amazed at just how much larger the F-22 Raptor is in comparison to both, the F/A 18 Super Hornet and F-16 Viper.

The YF 17 prototype was a contender against the YF 16 for the light fighter contract which the F 16 won. When the Navy chose the YF 17, the Navy not only beefed upped the air frame and landing gear but bigger wings were required for low speed handling on carriers. Check out the wing area of the F35 A and B compared to the C model. Bigger wing and the most internal fuel load....

That would be awesome to see since I'm going to that air show and would love to see that. Point Mugu released the schedule of performances and the Thunderbirds will be performing early in the afternoon and the Blue Angels will be the last performer of both days probably around 4 p.m. It looks like there will be enough time for the Thunderbirds to debrief and whatever else they have to do post performance then get back up in the air to join the Blue Angels for the Super Delta.

I saw the Blue Angel's for the first times in the early 1970's at Pt. Mugu. I loved when they did sneaky low flyover from behind the hangars.

Interesting that last year it was Thunderbirds at the wings, this year the Blues. Maybe they'll alternate every year? The bigger aircraft on the outside makes it look... clumsier, somehow.

Thanks guys for finally flying in formation together... I was personally among those during the Pandemic when there was talk of standing down both Air Teams indefinitely to propose even a 2-ship from each group combining into a sustainable interim demonstration unit... Honestly, if there could be something like a 4-ship from both the Blue Angels + T-birds to form a joint-demo team to include tail-on chase sequences - that would be incredible imho, let alone potentially cost-effective too ?? That said, I gave a thumbs up here for the vid upload but was totally against all that totally disgusting smog-looking smoke in the delta formation scene. Extremely gross looking, guys, sorry and something I beg to be modified at some point. Respects
